Try disabling all extensions except for Zotero and Zotero Word for Windows Integration and see if that makes a difference.
-
Start with http://www.zotero.org/support/word_processor_plugin_troubleshooting#installation_error. If that doesn't work, we'll need the text of the error message from manual installation.

What operating system are you on?

Usually the error binding to the port would indicate that you have Zotero Standalone open simultaneously (with Zotero Standalone and Zotero for Firefox are set to point to different data directories). Can you confirm that this isn't the case? Eithe…

Do any of the conditions listed in http://www.zotero.org/support/word_processor_plugin_troubleshooting#communication_error_or_non-responsive_plugin_buttons apply?

At present there are no official 64-bit Firefox builds on Windows, so we don't build or ship 64-bit versions of the Word plugin.

For anyone else reading this: the above instructions might delete your Zotero data directory, depending on where you have it stored. You're better off fixing the permissions on ~/.zotero instead of removing it (and not running Zotero as root).

This is a bug in Ubuntu's Chromium package that apparently breaks a lot of extensions. Ironically, in 4.0.8.1 I had to switch back to the deprecated APIs in some places because Ubuntu 13.04 didn't support the new APIs.

Do you have a proxy configured? Some proxy configurations prevent the Chrome connector from saving directly to Zotero Standalone, although it's usually possible to fix the configuration. In any case, you can always save to zotero.org and synchronize…

Follow the directions here. If manual installation doesn't work, and it's not solved by the troubleshooting instructions for the "Could not create Java implementation loader" error linked there, post the error you get from manual installation.

(If you set Standalone and Zotero for FF to the same database, it should take care of both issues.)

Zotero just throws the error that Scripting Bridge returns. The long-form error description is: Mac OS error -1708 (errAEEventNotHandled): the AppleEvent was not handled by any handler which unfortunately isn't much more informative. It could mean t…

Did the JRE print a frame, or was that the whole message? I doubt that the JVM should be segfaulting in the first place, but without more output I have absolutely no idea what would have caused this. Also, it looks like have your Zotero data direct…

The updater issue would only have affected Zotero Standalone users on Mac OS X who didn't put Zotero into the default applications directory.
-
Open the LibreOffice/OpenOffice options dialog by choosing Tools→Options. In the dialog, click LibreOffice→Advanced. Ensure that “Use a Java runtime environment” is checked, and that a JRE is selected in the list below. If there is a JRE in the list…

I think that OpenOffice 3.3 only works with Java 1.6, which you shouldn't use because it's outdated and insecure. You should either update to LibreOffice 4.1 or Apache OpenOffice 4; I recommend the former.

Usually this means that either security software is interfering with Zotero, or that you have Word or Firefox set to run as adminstrator. In the latter case, you'd see a dialog that says something like "An application needs your permission to contin…

That debug ID is empty. Did you load one of the above pages after enabling logging? If not, can you create another debug ID?

As you've probably already seen, I implemented basic XMP support using pdf.js a while ago in the pdfjs branch of my personal fork (https://github.com/simonster/zotero/tree/pdfjs/). The main reason this didn't make it into the main Zotero tree is tha…

I haven't looked closely, but this is sounds like the same style as Nature.

Zotero will automatically abbreviate "Value in Health" correctly, but it doesn't know how to deal with the subtitle. Automatic journal name abbreviations are disabled by default for existing documents. Zotero uses the setting you most recently sele…

You could install the 3.5.8 plugin in Standalone, but I don't necessarily recommend it because it won't automatically update. If you forget to uninstall it after the next version of Zotero Standalone is available, everything will break and no one wi…

Have you tried a second time after restarting Zotero?
-
Have you installed all available updates to Word?

There's a bug in the auto-updater in 4.0.9 that will make this happen unless Zotero is in /Applications. The auto-updater in 4.0.11 is fixed, but there's nothing we can do to make this case work for the 4.0.9 -> 4.0.11 update. You should either m…

Yeah, the big issue is that the version of NeoOffice in the App Store doesn't support Java, which means that our current extension would need to be completely rewritten to work at all. This isn't really their fault, since it's driven by App Store re…
-
While some parts of our documentation have not yet been updated, we no longer support NeoOffice. NeoOffice 2013 isn't free and doesn't support Java or Python-based extensions.

Try deleting the OLE Registration Database as described here: http://www.zotero.org/support/word_processor_plugin_troubleshooting#visual_basic_for_applications_error

Does this happen consistently on specific pages? If so, can you provide a URL?
