My library started with Academia (https://www.academia.edu/) and I still get a lot of PDFs that way. But I search for articles with Google and download them to Temp as well. If I click on the Zotero Connector button it saves a snapshot of the Acade…

Thank you - maybe I don't use Zotero as it's intended to be used. I download my PDFs to a Temp folder where I process them - check if I've already got them, change bland names to meaningful ones, etc - and then drop them into Zotero. Then I go thr…

I should add that the Tag button now remains visible, instead of disappearing upwards as the list lengthens, which is welcome.

Hi Isabelle, I have five special tags which I use to identify articles in special ways. They all begin _ so they stay at the top of the tag list, they are all in BLOCK CAPS so they stand out, they each have a different colour. So I have __TAGGED w…

Apparently it does! Thank you very much - once I work out how to do it this will be very useful.
-
Incidentally, if I have this right - you guys rock.
-
Thank you! - although after I started this thread (having searched the forum unsuccessfully) I found some links via Google and that sounds a bit complicated for me! But I'll let you know.
-
That might well work - thanks dj! I enter many by ISBN so it certainly has them for some books. I should be able to produce a list. I didn't know you could enter a list of ISBNs in Zotero - that's the thing. Cheers!
-
I do, individually. But it would be good to drop all the books in at once.
-
When you are entering a tag there’s a drop-down appears with the likely word in it, on which you can click to enter the tag. I’m (sometimes) getting multiple drop-downs.
-
Really?? I'll check that but none of the parent items included the search term ('annular') and at least the pdf I checked, where the parent item was greyed, did ... hmmm.
-
Sorry, I hadn’t been following the thread. Thanks ... we’ll think about that.

Hi - does this mean that if I had the folder 'storage' on Google Drive I could sync computers that way? Leaving everything else where it is? I've been looking into using the Google space I have but I can't even accommodate my sqlite files in the fr…

BTW - version => 5.0.37, platform => Win32, oscpu => Windows NT 10.0; WOW64, locale => en-US, appName => Zotero, appVersion => 5.0.37, extensions => Zutilo Utility for Zotero (2.0.4, extension), Zotero LibreOffice Integration (…

Look at https://drive.google.com/open?id=0BwLsnBgqo6b0emx0Rk5BdjhqaTg On the third page of the pdf below the ISBN it says 1. Slavery and the church—History. 2. Church and social problems—History I have automatic tags 'Slavery and the church', '…

Workflow - I look at a pdf, then if I want it I save it to my Temp file, then drop a few at a time into Zotero. Then I go through adding tags. 'it imports them as regular tags' - so can't I stop Zotero importing tags now? It never used to.
-
Is that it? Thanks, it just seemed strange behaviour.

Hi guys - a partial screendum is here - https://drive.google.com/file/d/1aISAp0jeae7jDG9FFTKN-WDf-kNtikng/view?usp=sharing It shows the item, 'Consular diptychs, etc'; the pdf which Zotero has found, 'Eastmond 2010'; and below it my original pdf …
-
dstillman - more than likely! I’ve got a screendump to show you but I don’t see anywhere to attach it. As I said, the original appears to remain but won’t open - weird.
-
I should add, that the new file which Zotero adds is sometimes NAMED IN BLOCK CAPITALS which I dislike and has to be renamed if it is to be cited in future, and also, in order to keep things neat, I have to delete the old file name, which means extr…

I was successful in reproducing the error and have a screendump but I can't see how to attach the image. I have however submitted Debug ID D238593946 or D1711151230 - it's come up with a second ID. My fault no doubt. Must have pressed the button tw…

No, the progress dialog is appearing too quickly. I'll try again tomorrow after I've just switched on and the machine's doing its scans and bootings-up.
-
I've just submitted Debug ID D370622930. HTH! The problem, in so far as there is one, is just waiting for the right-click menu to open. I'm going to try again and see if I can reproduce the multiple-top-menu-item-duplication now.
-
No, nothing unusual at all. Depressingly conventional. I'll do as you ask. It's just a slow response if it's busy with other things, I think, but what that is I haven't been able to suss out.
-
The more I hear, the more impressed I am with you guys.
-
Yes, of course that worked - thanks v much! I think before I must just have clicked 'show top level' on a pre-existing search ... If anyone from Zotero development is reading, thanks very much indeed for an excellent program.
-
Yes, but I must admit only briefly (maybe I just clicked on it after the original search) and I can’t remember just what the result was. I’ll try that again tomorrow. Since, as I remember, the search result still showed some top level items tagge…

I appreciate that Merging the wrong items could be catastrophic - an Unmerge possibility might help here, even if it would involve more bandwidth. And a warning, with an explanation of what is about to happen, would be appropriate.
-
But it keeps all those tags I’ve added, I hope?
