Works like a dream. Thanks so much! I think it's best with Tags pinned, so it's fully visible (in my setup, anyway). You've made an old man very happy.
-
Magic, and thanks!
-
Indeed - I check every day to see if the update has been released!

Just playing around - I use v7 - I tried enlarging text with the Windows setting but couldn't live with that. My Zotero is set up View>Density>Compact. I've just tried View>Font size>Bigger and I'm sure the drop down is more readable -…

Did you get an answer to these points John? The small drop down text is getting on my nerves.
-
Although claude70's suggestion doesn't quite meet the case, I am happy to report that I have created a test sub-collection and added a test item in it (an item with am attached file), and when I right-click on the item in the sub-collection I am off…

Thank you for this useful contribution claude70.

Thank you guys for your time, particularly Dan who must be incredibly busy, but it's obvious that our discussion isn't going anywhere, and the answer to my original question is, that it isn't possible to remove an item from a sub-collection only.
-
I'm really not confused - I understand the situation perfectly. I understand that just because an item is in a sub-collection it is still in its collection. But I make a sub-collection and add items to it for a function; when the function changes o…

You see, I can drag an item out of a collection into a sub-collection, but I can't just drag it out. Or delete it. It's not a big deal, but it would seem logical.

- only

But I don't want to remove it from the collection, I want to remove it from the sub-collection.
-
Yes?
-
Er no - it's just an item in a sub-collection. I can Move item to bin, but of course then it's deleted from the parent collection too, since as you say 'sub-collections are only views of sub-sets of the total data' I don't want to see it in the su…

Thanks, of course you're right, should have thought. Zoplicate. Didn't know it worked that way. Useful.
-
v7.0.5 btw

Well, heaven knows, if anyone should know you should Dan, so I don't want to get into an argument but a little while ago I was working through duplicates and I was offered two options at the top of the dialog (which I can't check or show you now bec…

Thanks ajb59 - that's just what I'd expect - but it isn't there! https://s3.amazonaws.com/zotero.org/images/forums/u3113719/ig4h3cntu3ojz9kxms93.png

Hi Tirmellon, Most of the points you make do not affect me but the last point about shortcuts resonates: I can no longer just press SHFT-CTRL-Z to open a new tag, because Zutilo doesn't work any more. But really it shouldn't take an independent dev…

I see v7 now offers the option to mark duplicates as false, which is great - thanks all.

Now I see! https://s3.amazonaws.com/zotero.org/images/forums/u3113719/rireq8jq1yig9hqp5r5c.png Gosh that's neat, I'd no idea. It doesn't work with anthologies does it? On online indexes like RI OPAC? Yes it does! Thanks a lot Adam, I've been usi…

Ah, is my ignorance showing? Hurray, if so. Try these: Britannia, Volume 50 - November 2019 and Lucerna 63, July 2022

Thanks! It'll help a lot. Sooner rather than later, please. In fact, it would probably be quicker to do my idea, and then delete unneeded entries, than enter them individually.
-
I should have said, this is the desktop version, 6.0.30. And I checked I had plenty of memory available. Thanks Matthew, that's interesting. I don't use the built-in PDF reader, incidentally, but I appreciate you mention it due to the way Zotero ha…

As usual Adam, thanks a lot. I didn't know I could do that and it works fine.

I agree that it would be good if we could drag items to re-order them. Would this be a major re-write problem? It would, for instance, be nice to have the separate reports on excavations at Richborough (published 1926, 1928, 1930, 1949) together. A…

Excellent, and thanks.
-
Thank you! But normally the items come in separately and I need to add the tags that are appropriate. The idea of making tagging easier is welcome though. I spend nearly all my time tagging when I could be writing.
-
Yes, I have a saved Search called Tags_does not contain___TAGGED 181202. When I finish tagging an item I add a tag ___TAGGED which appears on the list as a purple square so I know I've tagged it, and of course it no longer appears in the Saved Sea…
