Many thanks. Understood. That sounds like things are heading in the right direction.

Adam Smith, is there any way users can appeal to you or others at Zotero to look into the possibility of modifying this feature. I am wondering from your comments that it might be "messy" to change this whether it is difficult, impossible, or maybe…

OK, I'll work with it. But that is the first window that every user goes to. It ought to be easy and convenient to enter and read data.
-
as it is, the quick search window has room for 10 characters. I try dragging the left side of the box, and it does not grab.
-
I mean the quick search window. I have tried and cannot get it to expand.
-
I'm referring to the Zotero app, using Windows 11. I do not see any way of enlarging the scale or font on the app.
-
Thanks, I thought not. My main concern is that if I refresh all, every citation across chapters gets changed to a second reference (CMOS full note style), and I want the first citation of an item in each chapter to be full. I assume this remains …

For reasons that I cannot understand (and do not need to) the interface seems to be working perfectly now. Thanks

I am still having problems with the new WorldCat site; all the books and articles I find appear as web pages. I have followed the directions here for updating translators etc., but nothing changes. I need some help!
-
OK. It makes a difference which edition I am referring to, so I need to find some way to do that. Thanks

Thanks, so the tags create a tag folder on the side. Obviously I'm new to tagging, and this is very helpful. Many thanks.

I may have solved this. I saved the search, then opened the saved folder, then selected and copied the bibliography. I should have worked on it more before posting my question, but perhaps this will be of use to others.
-
I then went back to the chapter I was working on and it appears to be working correctly now with all the modified format options. I'm hoping this will continue to work for me. Many thanks.

I've just now tried it on a fresh document making sure that the endnote format and find that some of the modifications stick, that is font and font size, but not the hanging paragraph or the double spacing. That must be changed by selecting text and…
-
I should add, that I have tried creating a modified endnote within the Zotero Word program, but it does not seem to stick.
-
I have modified my endnote formatting, font, etc. But when I enter a new note it does not default to the modified formatting: the font style and size, the line spacing, the paragraph formatting are all wrong. I have to change all that manually in W…

Follow up: Long after this discussion, I discovered the best way to enter Congressional serial set documents is as a journal article. I discovered this by adding citations from the Hein Online site. It created a Zotero entry using journal article th…

After further trials and errors, I found Juris M did not add any item types that would help with Senate or House documents of the kind I am using. However, I believe I have found the solution to this problem. Using "book" as item type, enter on the …

this answers my questions on another thread. One can sync across the two programs and use Juris as needed. I'm curious to see what happens to US Govt documents when they sync back to Zotero standard.
-
I see Jurism is essentially a version of Zotero. Can I use JM in place of Zotero and just migrate my library over to the former? I'm completely new to this, so forgive me if I'm asking something obvious, but I'd like to save time and cut to the bes…

Thanks, I'm going to explore Juris-M. If anyone has any good ideas about integrating Juris M software and Zotero, I'm all ears.

Further experimentation: I went back to "book" style and hacked it by entering: Series: serial Series number: 1161 volume: H. execdoc 23 I deleted publishing place and publisher Date: 1863 Here is what I came up with: _Message from the President o…

I'm working with hearing and I put in the Congress and session numbers in the session window. I entered the H. execdoc number in the document number. This is what I get: “Message from the President of the United States . . . in Relation to the Alle…

Let me add some additional information and see if I can get some help with this. According to CMOS such US govt documents should be cited as follows: Document Title, NNth Cong., 1st sess., year, S. Doc. NN, serial NNN, page nos. Turabian has this…

I was not able to enter or edit text in the main window and it seemed I had to use the edit in separate window option. Now, after closing zotero down for a while, it seems to be working as it should again.

I misunderstood. In place of Ibid CMoS17 uses lastname, page only. Short title when not replacing Ibid. Got it. Many thanks.

Is there an easy way to find which note is linked to a duplicate item in another library? This is a mess!

I must have been using the 64bit Firefox. I downloaded and installed the 32bit version and everything is working fine now. Many thanks. Will this be fixed sometime? I don't know what I'm giving up by using the 32 vs 64 bit, but I'd like to have th…
