Can you generate a bibliography in a new document? Could you submit a Report ID from Zotero?
-
Does it work in a new Google Docs document?
-
Unfortunately I'm out of troubleshooting ideas by this point. We don't really have anyone else reporting being completely unable to cite in the way that you are. If we get reports like yours, they are usually resolved by the troubleshooting steps, o…

Generally aside from disabling automatic citation updates and cutting up the document into smaller pieces, there is little to be done to speed up Zotero on macOS Word. If you initiate any of the Zotero commands, especially Refresh or Add/Edit Bibli…

@mlrsc we've deployed a fix. See if it works now.

Could you produce the smallest snippet of a document that still produces the "An API change has caused this script to stop working" error and send it to support@zotero.org? EDIT: Oh, you already did. We'll take a look.
-
See Troubleshooting Errors in Word Processor Documents, particularly the last step. We would be very interested in a document snippet that reproduces this issue, so please send one to support@zotero.org with a link to this thread if you manage to is…

Good investigation on your part. Before the fix we looked to see if we could make it work like SingleFile. SingleFile works because all of the SingleFile extension executes directly in the page. For the Zotero Connector we need to pass the saved sna…

1. Open Terminal.app 2. Type in echo $TMPDIR 3. Copy the full directory path, it should start with /var/folders. 4. Open Finder and press Cmd-Shift-G. Paste the path copied in step 3. 5. Place richzoterotext.rtf file in the folder you just opened. 6…

Could you produce a Debug ID from Zotero for an attempt to cite that crashes Word? You should use Zotero 6 (not Beta). Can you create a new macOS user account and see if the crash occurs there?
-
We cannot provide support for LibreOffice master documents. We recommend merging documents directly instead of using LibreOffice's master document feature if you need Zotero citations.
-
You don't have to permanently disable all extensions, we just need to figure out if interference with another extension is causing this issue, and if it is - which one, so that we can debug this. We have deployed this update to over 3 million of Zot…

Sorry it took a while to respond to you with further troubleshooting instructions. We had hoped other changes we were making to that code may also fix the issue you were seeing. Could you go to https://gist.github.com/adomasven/0fbe8f9ae741d6cffd78…

Could you disable other extensions and see if you still see this issue? You might need to refresh the page, or restart your browser between disabling extensions and trying again. If it works with other extensions disabled, could you figure out which…

Could you produce a Debug ID from Zotero for an attempt to cite? Make sure you restart Zotero before producing the Debug ID.
-
Try disabling all other extensions except for Zotero Connector, then restart your browser and see if it works. If not, submit a Report ID.

Please always create a new thread for your problem unless you are sure what you are experiencing is identical. Do you see this in a new document? If you don't, see Troubleshooting Errors in Word Processor Documents, if you do, try to disable all ot…

It seems that you are merging items in a group library where you don't have edit permissions. Zotero should tell you about it and I've created a ticket to track this issue, but otherwise you need toget edit permissions for this group library if you …

Please describe in detail what you're doing and what happens.

All of what dstillman said above still applies and if you continue to have problems I wouldn't rule out this being unrelated to Mendeley/Zotero and a consequence of malware.
-
This is not related to general computer problems, but for what it's worth, we've had users report Word crashing which disappeared after removing the Mendeley plugin from Word completely. While you removed Mendeley, you may need to take additional st…

Given the OS you are running, presumably this is a pretty old mac? We know for sure there are intermittent problems in the plugin architecture we use to build our Zotero plugin, but for a long while we didn't have an alternative. We don't get many r…

That's not really a question for Zotero, but for Word. And my best-guess answer is that's the way Word is programmed to behave. When you set a text-box to not move with the text, internally Word most-likely re-anchors the text box to a different par…

Did you install any security software? Can you insert a bibliography with a different citation style? Could you create a new macOS user account and see if you can insert the bibliography there?
-
See Zotero Toolbar does not appear
-
You should make a copy of the document in its current state if you're worried about missing something. Otherwise, you can reinsert the citations if that's more convenient.
-
Yeah, sorry about that. There's a technical reason why we don't display a progress bar. You can see Zotero working on your document by opening the debug log viewer in Help -> Debug Output Logging -> View Output.
-
If this is macOS you will likely have to wait quite a while before the bibliography is inserted. Based on the age of your mac, it could take multiple hours.

Can you submit a Report ID in the new user account where the same failure occurs? Does it occur if you cite an item without accented characters in Chicago or APA style?
