Thanks very much indeed Noah. That sounds brilliant. I will be trying it soon.

Of the various AI research assistants (Jenni, Scite, Scolarcy, Afforai) Scispace looks like it may be the most powerful (but they are all interesting and it is a close run thing). It also now (2025/1) has a quick Zotero connector for those have have…

I really like it. Thank you!

Having fiddled with ARIA for a while I realise 1) That I don't think it yet can talk to the contents of files only titles, tabs, and abstracts or other stuff in the Zotero database. Accessing pdfs was too costly apparently but the developer is work…

I was wondering how to use AI on my Zotero database and realise Zotero 7 with ARIA are super. I uploaded to Zotero 7 which is very good (I like the new left hand pane). Downloaded the ARIA api file (aria.xpi) and selected it from Tools menu> ad…

Hello hellowbigworld Thank you. I downloaded the xpi file from https://www.papersgpt.com/blogs/cookbook-papersgpt (the github link at https://github.com/papersgpt/papersgpt-for-zotero/releases/download/papersgpt-v0.0.1/papersgpt.xpi is broken)…

Thank you Nathan! When I go to https://platform.openai.com/api-keys Underneath the words "secret key" there is sequence below it that contains three periods in a row. I thought that this mean the key was hidden but I now think that it is just that…

I had a look but I could not see a way of purchasing the chatGPT API key. Plus does not come with a key apparently.
-
I see. Thank you. Thanks again. I will try that (Save to Zotero Button)

Thank you! Sorry. I installed zofile into Zotero. I thought that in the past there was something that I added to Firefox so that when I click on pdf download links I am given (in addition to open pdf and safe pdf) the option to save to Zotero. I u…

Firefox gives me that message when I go to the add-ons manager, at about:addons, click on the cog top right, and choose "Install add-on from file" and then browse to the location of the 5.0.16-fx.xpi file, which is 467 KB in size, that I have just d…

I used right click safe (and open in Firefox) and in both cases the same message. The add-on downloaded from this site could not be installed because it appears to be corrupt. With zotfile-5.0.16-fx.xpi (and zotfile-5.0.9-fx.xpi) from the main s…

Ctlr+Shift+L, Home works to do a global search, but it takes the left hand pane up to the My library folder. Since I now have a LOT of folders and the My Library is a long way from the folder that I am wanting to work in. It would be nice for me t…

Thank you. It is about time I take the plunge.

I hope it is okay to resurrect threads when (imho) relevant to the previous discussion. When I export a Japanese bibliography to APA format the order of the names is not the same as that shown in the Zotero interface (when ordered by the name colu…

It worked "(Benedict, 1946/2006)". Thank you.

I was about to post on another thread but realise I have already said what I wanted to say above four years ago. Adam Smith's solution (turn off automatic tags) is not bad at all. Also I realised that I can delete tags from the tag pane, one by …

@Rintze Thank you. I did send them a link to this thread. Wrong platform. And they ignored me. Thank you for the name, XUL Runner, adamsmith. XUL sounds interesting. I am sorry to have been unhelpful to you Mr. Stillman. Zotero is great
-
Dear Mr. Stillman Thank you for Zotero. I presumed tabulator, of the software upon which Zotero is based mentioned on the Zotero about window, to be the platform that adamsmith referred to. But of course, you would know whether it does have anyt…

Thank you. I have taken the liberty of contacting the MIT Tabulator team.

I think it would be nice if there were an option to not have these two -- Amazon/Google books links -- in the all important central pane either because they are ignored or stored in the Info. The central pane is the place to compose.
-
Thank you. That is a shame. Perhaps it might be left as a hidden option, with a warning not to sync if one uses it, for those of us who do not sync.

Dear Joscha I'd like to second the suggestion that which Guppy made on Feb 13th 2012 on the 7th page of this thread, "First, thanks for this awesome plugin! I have a question and a couple of suggestions for new features. [snip] Suggestions: 1. I …

Thank you. I will look into ZotFile.

With regard to annotating PDFs, I hope one day to try and write a MS Word macro that converts PDF-XChange comment files into Zotero RIS files which would allow us Zotero users to import the PDF-Xchange comments and highlights en masse and then drag…

It is probably just me.

Oh, I see. I deleted the default style! I agree that deleting all but styles was probably a rare thing to do. I thought I did it though in response to the problem (i.e. after I had had the issue) not before. I don't think my students copied me. &…

Other reasons why I failed to realize that a setting existed is because: 1) The (right click context menu) "Create Bibliography from Item" dialogue allows me to set a citation style. Perhaps in the absence of preference having been set on the Expo…
-
Thank you again! Thanks to you I understand the problem. One has to set a default output format in the Export tab in preferences in order to use the shortcutkeys at all. I had forgotten this. I suggest that Zotero export default to whatever is…

Dear AdamSmith Thank you for your kind response. There were 10 students and only 1 or two got ctrl+shift+a (or cmd+shift+a on a mac) (three of them were using macs) to work. One student tried changing the shortcutkey to a variety of other capit…
