Today I taught the use of Zotero to 10 postgrad students and Ctrl Shift A did not seem to work on most of the machines (it did work on some so I presume it is an issue with the latest version of firefox). At the moment, the ability to use Ctrl Shi…

I am sorry this is so old (I happened here because I accidentally hit the last hit on a forum search) but, even now in 2014, I still use Google Desktop on Windows 7. You can download Google Desktop (which provides instant Google search for your com…

Thank you! Zutilo says "Extract Zotero item from a current webpage with/without attachments:Zutilo adds extra menu items to the context menu of Zotero's status bar icon that extract citations from the current page with or without extracting the pa…

I guess that means that there is no way toggling the pdf download behaviour regarding the download of pdfs. Shift+Click toggles the "snapshot preference" which is different to the pdf download preference. It would be cool if their were a "Ctrl …

Japanese Amazon's data now comes up in English, which is completely useless. I am not sure what to do.
-
Since the issue does not appear to be resolved imho it may be of interest to those above, and in order to put the information in the same place for easier access for all users, it is my feeling that it this thread is an appropriate place. I w…

Then I am sorry, I used the wrong term. I would like to be able to cite movies in (or near) to APA style, without having to input all the data myself by hand, in any way possible.
-
Thank you, yes, there is an icon but it does not scrape the right information for APA citation (the subject of this thread).
-
It would be cool if there were somewhere where we could scape movie citations from, ideally I guess IMDB.

I see that Zotero downloads pdfs from Google scholar without shift-click, and that the behaviour is controlled by a setting in preferences - "Automatically attach associated PDFs and other files when saving items" Is there anyway of toggling th…

It there were more/easier web page annotation within Zotero, then I would want more powerful ways of collating and exporting such annotations, pdf annotations, and/to Notes, so that Zotero can be used for for the whole process of research. (Zo…

Thank you! I had not noticed, durr. That is great.

Alas Amazon.co.jp records (and very probably other Japanese sources) imported with the names reversed. Is there any chance of correcting this, or adding a name swapping button on Zotero?

Thank you. You are right. The the translator has fixed the Google problem, and right hand pdfs were download and linked. I just happend to try to do it when the translator was having issues. I could have sworn that in the past right hand …

By the way, I hope my post did not sound rude above. I abbreviated your salutation....It does not read well. I really do want to use MLZ but I am scared of: 1) database issues at change over, and ignorance of the change-over process. 2) le…

Thank you Prof Bennett And Sorry. Despite being upbeat above, I never got around to moving to MLZ, the biggest reason being I have a database with 1355 items and I am a little scared to move, when especially your site says "but if you have…

Names from Amazon Japan are still all backwards alas. CiNii names are sometimes backwards so that swap button would still be a great help.

Thank you adamsmith. I see now. I can remove them from the group and not my library, after I transfer but before I sync. I will do some experimentation. Thanks again, Tim

Thank you. I tried an advanced search on Type is Attachment and found nothing. I tried it combined with all and a 1 in date and it did not find anything. But I am not sure why I would need this search unless files inside parents are also…

That is true. I can delete orphan pdfs from my library and then put them back in later. But when I put them back in I have to remember which collection they were in so it is not as simple as all that. Thank you for the suggestion though. …

By the way, I only mean now to point out that one can now remove "child files" and "child links" but stand-alone files are left as stand-alone links and there does not seem to be an option for not including them. This seems to me to be inconsi…

Thank you DWL-SCA I am just now looking at a page on the Internet, freely accessible and linked by Google sholar, which contains the reading list of a philosophy course at a US university, allowing the download of various famous papers. It seem…

Ah I see there is also a "Delete group," button. I will now try that. The delete group button worked fine.

That is a shame but thank you for your response.

I am a civil servant and have to be up-tight. I guess that quite a lot of university people feel that way too. So it would be nice to be able to have further control over links. There are many types of links Links in citations (URL field…

Thank you....I remain however scared... There are files on the Web that are copyright-worrying. Even famous scholars are putting things on the web that are copyright-worrying. There are files on the Web that may be copyright infringing. …

I am finding that my address bar input field is disappearing occasionally. I am not using the navigation bar, because I move my address input field to the menu bar, because otherwise there is a not of unused screen real estate to the right of the me…

If the collections were arranged in the way that cadudesun says, as a sort of collection cluster like the tags, then it would be easy to see which collections an item were a member of too. Come to think of it, collections and tags are conceptu…

That's a good idea! One key press would be nice but....extravagant probably. I'll change CTRL ATL C to CTRL ALT S so that I can do both copies (CTRL ALT A > CTRL ALT S) with the same finger. I don't think that one would really n…
