in addition to my post above I'd like to add that zotero seems to work allright when I open a new document - so the problem seems to lie in teh word-document itself.

I agree, I was just thinking, that the navigation of this site could use a redesign, I feel its been getting more and more difficult to find things. Another Suggeston: How about a Google Map listing all the Institutions that support Zotero?
