Usually it will be updated and show immediately, but sometimes it can take a couple minutes. It should be showing up now and available when you sync.

You can ask them to transfer ownership of the group to you, which can be done from the grouip's settings. If that's not an option, you can email support@zotero.org with details.

If you try those again they should work as well. The now fixed bug left them in an unexpected state.
