Have been enjoying Zotero Android on my zfold5. Just wonder whether you guys have any plans to implement an epub reader to the mobile app? I just feel that it would be amazing if I could read papers in epub.
Thank you so much for all your work on this! I've been checking for when more slots open up for the Zotero Beta, and checked today and was pleasantly surprised. I just downloaded and installed the app and wow, what a difference this makes to my workflow! You just made my PhD life 5x easier. You've also motivated me to pay for Zotero storage so I can access my PDFs anywhere, too — and to support your continued development. Thank you so much, I hope you know how much your work means to scholars like us!
Very happy with zotero, use it both on ipad and Boox. After recent update I experience problems with deleting annotations. Can’t delete them anymore. Boox with android 13. Best, ingmar
I am having troubles running the latest version (1.0.0.-118) on my supernote device even though a previous version has worked in the past. I updated zotero-beta on my phone, extracted the .apk from there and installed it on my supernote. Unfortunately, however, the app does not seem to start (although it appears to be running in the background). Is anyone experiencing anything similar? Or has any suggestions?
@dstillman: do Android beta slots open up sporadically? I've been checking religiously but, unlike others here, have not been able to join the beta (also not in the last few days).
It would be nice to at least have a notification system to be able to get into the beta, or a waiting list. It's rather frustrating to see people seem to get in and when I want to: nope!
Thank you for promptly resolving the issue with deleting annotations! As a frequent Zotero user on iPad I have one request to enhance the annotation experience on my Android Boox device to match the seamless iPad experience:
In annotation mode (where I annotate with a pencil), I am unable to scroll through the text using my finger. On my iPad, this functionality is available, allowing for smoother navigation. On my Android device, I have to exit annotation mode every time I want to scroll further in the text.
It would be fantastic if this feature could be implemented on Android devices as well. Thank you for considering this!
@ifranken I don't know if this will solve your issue, but when in annotation mode, try swiping with two fingers, I think this will let you scroll without highlighting or having to exit annotation mode.
One useful feature would be the ability to hide the highlighter-menu and still be in highlighter-mode. E.g. while in full screen mode use the pen to highlight without needing to select "highlight" for every annotation. I think this feature would be extra useful for e-ink.
@dstillman or whoever can answer, will the app use all available free RAM or will it obey some limits? I'm looking at Android tablets for Zotero and want to ensure it can handle large libraries smoothly. Any information would be appreciated, thank you.
@chejunkie The app was developed for large libraries from the ground up so the size of library will not affect the performance. It loads and unloads data into RAM dynamically as you scroll through it/access it.
So there is no need to specifically go for a tablet with lots of RAM. Any Android Tablet should do.
May I know when the app would be released to the public? I've been waiting for months but it is still in early access phase and the program is currently full.
This is wonderful news!!! Big thank you, and eager to follow the development progress and contribute!

I'd guess we're getting pretty close to them releasing the app, but not sure.
