If not that, try disabling all other third-party browser extensions and reloading Google Docs.

It works on microsoft word and the extension works on google chrome.

I have not been able to use zotero w google docs (on firefox) since I started w zotero a few months ago. It works great w MSWord.

In the latest Zotero beta, we've added automatic merging of adjacent in-text citations by the word processor plugins. It works in Word, LibreOffice, and Google Docs.
