Upgrade StorageProblem with Chrome extension, Google Docs, and Word plugin

Everything suddenly stopped working yesterday after I got a Windows update. Nothing happens when I click any of the Zotero buttons in Google Docs/Word. The Chrome extension also stopped working, giving me the message:
"The Zotero Connector was unable to communicate with the Zotero desktop application."
I eventually got around this by clicking "Enable Saving to Online Library" and citations do end up making their way to the desktop app.
The Zotero app itself is working fine. I've tried reinstalling it but that didn't fix anything.
Any help would be much appreciated! Thanks

(You should unauthorize the Connector from the Zotero Connector preferences so that you can debug this properly, rather than saving to the online library.)
Disabling security software fixed the Chrome extension, but unfortunately I still can't add citations in Google Docs/Word.
