I am currently unable to inset new footnotes in Google Docs (using footnotes).

1. I needed to use MLA 8th ed., not the latest 9th ed. I think I successfully imported it and added it to Zotero and set it in my Google Docs under "Document Preferences" in the Zotero menu there.

What's you main word processor? This has frequently been an issue in LibreOffice, but I don't believe we have ever had any reports from either Google docs or Word.
