I believe that sometimes certain ProQuest social science databases also do this. The ERIC database sometimes has this problem.

me, it's not working for the databases EBSCO, ProQuest, and Wiley (those are the ones I've tested so far). I get 2 different errors:

They are downloaded from journal databases like Proquest

in my case NYT Historical and WP Historical on Proquest. eg https://www.proquest.com/historical-newspapers/serious-study-tourism/docview/114582064/se-2?accountid=15172

Can you post a specific abstract-page URL from ProQuest that's not working for you?

D842567266 this site did download the pdf. my trouble is with proquest.

On ProQuest, you also want to make sure you're saving from the Abstract page.

For nearly two months, I have trouble to automatically retrieve PDFs from Proquest (which worked before).
