    Just hand-timing it, it seems that it takes from 2 to 4 second for a quicklook window to open the first time, and then less than 2 seconds after that. I use Acrobat X as a pdf reader.

    As a bit of an aside, why do you say this? I've always insisted on FF using an external reader to open pdfs, as using a pdf reader plugin just clutters the screen up with another layer of toolbars etc
