There now is an addon that does this (among other nice things): https://github.com/MuiseDestiny/zotero-style Note that it only shows the number of items in the selected collection. The count does not include subcollections. Cheers!

@jazow This add-on is simply amazing, I am so excited that I found this! Are you (affiliated with) the creator? I have a couple of small questions that you might have an answer to. First, is there a way to only display the tags present in the curren…

I would also love to have this feature! The solution suggested by Henry_Taylor is unfortunately only viable in cases where the folder hierarchy is flat and where this is the case, I already use the underscore (_) to do that. Being able to actually p…

I second this request. I had some trouble getting my collection back using backups, luckily I was able to reconstruct it more or less from memory. In general, it would be very neat if the Undo button could be relied on in more circumstances.
-
Seconded, this would be nice to have!
-
@bolejj That sounds quite intriguing. Would you mind sharing your workflow somehow through screenshots or the like? I'm most interested how you: - Go from reading PDFs to taking notes - Go from taking notes to organizing and linking notes - Find the…

I see, I don't know how difficult it would be, but maybe I'll give it a shot when I have some spare time

Seconded I was just looking for the same feature! Right click might not be the best option as most people rightfully expect a context menu to pop up when right-clicking. But crtl-left-click would be perfect IMO :)

Should I close/delete this discussion?
-
Oh yes, exactly! I didn't know this was a thing, thanks a lot

I know of the "relate selected items" option from Zutilo. However, all that does is it relates all the items in the selection between themselves. What I want to do is relate them to a single, defined item.

I was also just looking for this. But rather than pinning items, my idea was to make collections pinnable. This is sortof possible already by creating a saved search. However, the saved searches appear at the bottom of the sidebar, meaning that they…

That's very exciting to know! I was not aware you had this feature planned.

I agree that ideally notes from PDF annotations should split up into 1 note for 1 annotation. Ideally, notes should also contain metadata that links them directly back to their original text. So I note extracted from "Doe, 2018, p. 18" should be se…

@aislam Thanks a lot, that's really helpful! I reckon the instances where a snapshot would contain more than an HTML file are quite rare. I checked out a handful of snapshot files and they were all a single HTML file. Do you see any exceptions to th…

I am late to the discussion, but adding to the original request: It would be really nice if there was an option to display the number of citations that a collection contains next to it. There could also be an option for whether or not this includes …

Never thought of this idea, but that would be really cool indeed!

Bump. Is there maybe a hacky way of getting rid of the grey PDF filenames? For example, could I edit userChrome.css and make grey linked PDFs disappear?
-
@saris_anne Do I undstand correctly that you were able to increase the number of allowed colored tags to an arbitrary amount? Could you perhaps give more details on what you achieved and how you did it? :) @adamsmith For me, 9 colors is actually pl…

I see, those are actually very valid points. At the moment I am thinking about using subcollections to group my literature research into "I have cited these before in the project" and vice-versa. At the same time, I would like to group the literatur…

I just found this thread and am really glad that this feature exists. To add to this discussion: Is there a way to move (cut and paste) items to a different collection using keyboard shortcuts? Coming from Anki, one of the great things about that so…

Hey I would like to customize the interface's CSS and add custom shortcuts to do things like changing the background color. I haven't been able to find the zotero.jar file, however. And I also don't know how to use/run the python script. Could you p…

The workaround I found so far is to use "Edit in a separate window".

Hey there and thanks a lot for your comment! I tried replicating your workflow but I couldn't find "element type" in the advanced search menu. I did find "type" though. It would help me to understand your solution if you had a few screenshots to s…

+1 too In connection with the need for an arbitrary amount of user defined fields, it should also become possible to add line-break functionality to specfic or all fields in the browser.
-
I am also looking for this feature. Would it be possible to restrict the item types that are shown in the browser? For instance, as CityPrincess pointed out, after filtering with "pdf" it's still necessary to select each pdf file individually becaus…

Uninstalling juris-m, uninstalling zotero too, and then reinstalling zotero fixed it for me!
-
Hmm, I see. Thanks anyway!

The suggestions here are great and I'd love to see more features in this regard. Citavi has already proven that there is a demand for this kind of advanced reference organization.
