That icon does not exist. Went away some time ago. Just right-click on the column headers (where it says "Title", "Creator", etc.) and the options will appear as a drop-down menu. You can check the one you want, uncheck the ones you don't want.

It is irrelevant if it is selected in Zotero Preferences. The Style Manager under Cite in Zotero Preferences is only for installing styles. Not choosing them for any document. You select a style for your document in Word in the Document Preferences…

@upm937 Click within the citation, 20-24, which may highlight it gray (depending on your Word settings). Then hit the Add/Edit Citation icon in the Zotero tab in Word. This will bring up a red window with your citations as blue rectangles. You can d…

Zotero does save PDFs when saving from the Pubmed page much of the time (most of the time in my experience), but that's not from Pubmed, which has no pdfs, as adamsmith mentioned. Zotero is just working behind the scenes and finding the pdf for you …

The Google Drive file you linked to is not public, so no one can see it.

While the item is selected in the center pane, hold down the Option key (macOS), Control key (Windows), or Alt key (Linux). If no collection or subcollection is highlighted on the left-hand pane, that means it is an unfiled item: You did not place i…

helpful to know how others might be distinguishing between the title of child items and its filename. After several years of near-daily Zotero usage, I must say that it had rarely occurred to me to distinguish between these. Zotero handles filenames…

No need to plus-one on this one. They are already in Zotero 7 Beta.

(Also, while I don't have access to the Cite Them Right documentation, this Open University guideline says use "et al." for articles with more than four authors: https://www5.open.ac.uk/library/referencing-and-plagiarism/quick-guide-to-harvard-refer…

Assuming you work in Word, you need to set the citation style in the Word document, within the Zotero tab in Word, under Document Preferences. Common mistake is to add it in Zotero app's Preferences (correct), and think that's where you set it for y…

Did you look for the add/edit citation dialog? It is part of the Zotero app and it may be hiding behind the Zotero window. I would look through all open windows. In a couple of times when this happened to me (and it was not a hiding citation dialog…

Thanks, northword, for the plugin. I could easily turn off the metadata editing in the Preferences (which I did not need), and the duplicate item detection worked very well. This really helps using Zotero. It is not clear to me what is the best way…

Apple does not allow plugins in Pages, so it is not possible. Recent response from the Zotero developers here: https://forums.zotero.org/discussion/comment/432204#Comment_432204 If I could not use Word on Macs, I would switch to LibreOffice, which…

An item can have many attached files (for example, supplementary files, different versions of the file, etc.) It does not make sense to add "Rename File from Parent Metadata" to the context menu for the item.

I am loving this feature as well; it has significantly improved how I read articles! And so much better than having a split window for pdfs. I remember devs mentioning that they could just focus on the specific column the link points to, which woul…

The Zotero documentation has a good section on this: https://www.zotero.org/support/kb/item_types_and_fields#citing_fields_from_extra The section above mentions other CSL variables that can also be added in the Extra field.

This thread may have useful information: https://forums.zotero.org/discussion/106658/ This may have been fixed since then. Otherwise, you may export them as nbib from Pubmed, and import them into Zotero.

Zotero does not have folders, but it has collections. Collections do not work like filesystem folders. A Zotero item can belong in multiple collections. Reading this should help: https://www.zotero.org/support/collections_and_tags For marking an it…

I have had such issue before (reported here), so I made sure to restart a few times to check that it did not actually update. However, I just got the beta.26 update after manually checking, so this may not be an issue anymore.

I can confirm this also with 7.0.0-beta.22 on Mac OS 13.4.1 (c).

Q2: It appears the most used CMS is with colon. Why does comma version exists? Check out the CMOS' own webpages for author-date citations. Every example given on their quick guide has a comma for in-text citations, and none has a colon. https://ww…

This has been happening with some regularity, but not in a predictable manner, to me with the Beta. Appears to be similar to kzssc's report. Happens on arm64 Macs with Ventura 13.4.1(c) and latest Zotero 7 beta (beta21). It happens whether a pdf is …

For the broke college student: If you know how to set up a symbolic link (a single line command on a terminal), you can have, say, Dropbox (or the cloud storage your school pays for) to sync all your files seamlessly. As mentioned among the alternat…

@MuhammadAllam Have you actually edited the style in Word? That's what's controlling the font, not Zotero. On the latest Word on Mac, this is done by going to the Home tab, clicking the Styles Pane, and scrolling down to find "Bibliography", clicki…

Local files are not deleted, unless you explicitly delete them. When storage expires, the only thing that stops is syncing of attachment files (and images inserted in notes, I believe). If all your files have successfully synced already, they'll rem…
