@djross3 FWIW: Notes like "Includes bibliography" are not intended for use by librarians. They are intended to help users decide if that particular resource is desirable (for example, through interlibrary loan).
-
@dstillman: Which is the intended behavior?
-
Agreed that those things would be great!
-
Correct, this wouldn't affect most publisher citation formats. However, there have been instructors who have posted here that they require students to include very specific version information in citation in submitted papers.
-
Other use cases for this include citing journals in bibliometric papers, and in papers in fields of study such as librarianship, journalism, media studies, and cultural studies
-
This is quite important to me as well. What do you think @dstillman ? This would be relatively easy to do, correct?
-
I agree that the proposed behavior would be better than the current behavior.
-
Yes, you can use the Extra field for that. The basic syntax is data-name-item, colon, space, data. For example: Medium: Kindle

My workaround for this issue is a standalone note for each collection, with the full hierarchy and the name of the collection. I also include alternate names (synonyms, abbreviations, etc.), alternate hierarchies, and related collections. Using a no…

@thelauramay Have you settled on a workflow for this that is working well for you? I agree this kind of data can be very useful. I wish Zotero had records for authors as well as items, then this information could be added once to the author record, …

If you want collections to sort in a different order, you can use numeric prefixes to get the manual sort you want.
-
You could use collections, tags (https://www.zotero.org/support/collections_and_tags), and/or notes (https://www.zotero.org/support/notes) for this purpose.

Stopwords won't work, even in a single language. In English, for example, there are titles such as "A to Z: Current Spinal Cord Injury Rehabilitation", "A 440 GHz balanced active frequency multiplier-by-four SMMIC", and "La 'Princesse de Cleves' and…

@bwiernik I would encourage Zotero users to use the correct ISBN, at least if they are using page-level citations. One large exception to your statement that most modern ebooks use the same pagination as the print edition is popular fiction. Most of…

Collections automatically sort alphabetically. One workaround would be to use numbers before your collection names to get them to sort in the order you prefer.
-
I actually like having them different. It is useful to me to have the ability to search for them in different ways.
-
Yes, you were correct. Finally got the settings in Sophos working correctly.

Copy & paste in notes works fine for me.
-
I agree that the current display is counter-intuitive.
-
I usually type text with diacritics or special characters in Word, then copy and paste into Zotero.
-
I think @dstillman means "select the category in Zotero". (The item isn't there yet.)
-
One method I use to deal with this situation is to make some change to the metadata of the main item, then sort My Library by Date Modified. The the newly downloaded pdf file will be right next to the item I want to attach it to.
-
I would find this useful as well.
-
I would definitely vote for the former.
-
What leads you to say that Call Number is rarely used?
-
I am not having any lag in display of items when I change collections, on a Windows 10 machine. (Note that collections are not folders, but are analogous to playlists.) So maybe it is something in your particular setup?

See the Identifying Collections an Item is In section in https://www.zotero.org/support/collections_and_tags.

Should this plugin be added to https://www.zotero.org/support/plugins?
