OpenOffice was at one time very good software. Later, it went through a long period where it was owned/managed by different large companies and was no longer useful. A few years ago Apache received control of OpenOffice from Oracle Corporation and r…

1) 1200 queries/24 hours: GS doesn't have an established limit per day but regulates useage depending upon any or each of several factors -- time interval between queries; number of queries within a short period of time; total number of queries (eve…

On December 5 I promised an example of an XML file that seems to cause this kind of problem. It is missing the English language title but contains a vernacular title. Notice the tag. 29292925 2018 0…

There is an open-access multi-lingual thesaurus program, TemaTres, that we adapted to do what you hope to do. This would need written to be a thesaurus plug-in for Zotero but we were able to get this to work with our MySQL-based database. If you are…

IRC and forum does not have the same purpose… What might be a purpose for a Zotero IRC channel? That is a sincere question. Thanks. I regularly read this forum because I often learn something interesting or useful. I haven't followed anything via I…

I am very familiar with OJS software versions. No version of OJS includes metadata for the reference lists of journal articles. I've never seen COinS within a reference list of OJS journals or any other journal that provides its content in html. I'v…
-
@giby If you will look at the page source for the example you provided you will see that OJS has included both Highwire and Dublin Core meta tags in the page header. Are you also wanting these tags for each item in your reference list? That isn't a …

@bjohas wrote: "Sometimes journals that are new or do not have elaborate sites simply put the whole issue up..." What you cite depends on the context. What you store as an attachment depends on how much effort you are willing to spend. If you cite…

...nothing is displayed... COinS should only appear when you view the page source. Edit: I'm confused by your question about Open Journal Systems. Are you trying to find a quick way to include metadata for a pdf version of a new online journal art…

If the items that were in a collection are now in the "unfiled" collection: it is possible to create a new collection, select the wanted items in the unfiled collection, and move them to the new collection. As adamsmith said above, it is very easy …

Today we were having a problem with ScienceDirect pages taking several minutes to completely load when using Chrome. [The pages eventually do finally load.] The same pages load much more quickly with Firefox, today. In the past I've found the opposi…

Others may be able to give you step-by-step instructions concerning how to definitively search your drive for Zotero files but from your story it doesn't sound promising. If you have a backup of your thesis with Zotero citation fields intact you _ma…

I manage an online bibliographic database that _is_ indexed by Google Scholar but not by vanilla Google search. GS generally does very limited (if any) indexing of sites that echo or shadow material that is available from a publisher's official site…

In my experience the PDF reader you use can influence the quality of cut/paste. For example, (in my use on a Mac) cutting from Preview tends to do this sort of thing with poorly implemented rendering of kerning, glyphs, and ligatures. When I cut and…

Please excuse my naïveté here but a quick look at the Zotero database structure seems to show that each record item (article, book, book section, thesis, etc.) in a library has a unique identifier. Is it not possible to add a new field (NotDuplicate…

I thought that I was going to go insane after failing to get this to work, finally I was successful with this process, steps in this order. Delete the Z-LO integration, LO, and JDK. Restart the computer. Install JDK. Install LO. (Confirm that LO kn…

FWIW I've noticed that more and more Elsevier (and Wiley) articles' titles are dividing titles and subtitles with a period/full stop.

I think that @kld123509945 is requesting a very sophisticated query system to achieve: Proximity query- If word A and word B appear within n words of one another in the title or abstract of a record then include the record in the results. Count qu…

Removing LO, JDK, the Zotero integration plugin, restarting the computer and then reinstalling JDK, LO, and the plug-in (in that order) seems to have done the trick. Thanks for the encouragement.

@RPAULE It is common for journals to request that manuscripts be submitted in a style that differs from what you see on the final printed page. For these journals if a manuscript is submitted using the print-style it will certainly be desk-rejected …

FWIW In my experience this occurs with the PubMed XML of journals that publish articles in more than one language. English language articles sometimes have an empty title field but have the English title instead within the vernacular title tags. I'l…

The Zotero volunteers who write thetranslator code are working to fix these problems but as one issue is resolved, changes to the publisher websites cause new problems. The publisher SpringerNature was purchased by Holtzbrinck Publishing Group. The…

You are on deadline and anxious. I will try to further explain what @adamsmith said. First, save a copy of your document. Don't try to do anything except what was recommended above. We are assuming you are using a Windows machine. The key combinati…

What word processor and version? Have you performed a "save" or a "save as". If save-as, what is the file extension?

Perhaps, I should add that I asked if their German - language Combination issues were labeled with the letter “K” she laughed and said that I shouldn't give them ideas.

In my conversation with Elsevier A&I I learned that this was an indication that all issues in the volume were combined into a single Combo issue. They couldn’t explain why this included the word, supplement.

@bwiernik I never mention Zotero. I regularly correspond or speak with with the A&I offices at publishers many of which give me access to their metadata via FTP. I have a first name relationship with those folks at many publishers. SAP among the…

SAP metadata has had this problem intermittently for years. That is, if you mean listing the authors and then listing them again. SAP metadata also often omits author names.
