Please do contact the publisher about this. I noticed this problem about 10 days ago and reported it to their A&I team. This is a really important problem that goes beyond Zotero metadata. The metadata that is going to databases is also wrong. T…

There is a larger question: Why do some publishers insist on absurdly long DOIs in the first place? I believe the prize for journals goes to PLoS Currents articles [for example: 10.1371/currents.outbreaks.8ed218c079fbded60c505f025ed45f67]

It would be helpful to reply with the purpose of your desire to export the structure of your collections and sub-collections. There may be a way at accomplish what you want. Are you trying to export part of a Zotero library to be imported into a Zot…

It appears that there may have been useful information that was lost when the original post was deleted. Although I’m curious about the safetyof visiting a hacked journal site (and the name of te journal); I’m more concerned that something unsaid ha…

FWIW I have a colleague who believes that her VPN’s IP may contribute to the GS limit. The GS lock-out threshold is low. Google is very protective of their free product that is presented without ads. A Zotero debug ID, when requested should be pro…

Please consider Google Scholar as an index and not a database. Yes, GS is likely the most thorough index to the worlds scholarly literature. However, the metadata obtained directly from GS is, at best, usually incomplete and very often contains inco…

As I said in an earlier thread, this is a rare, intermittent problem for me. I don’t ever use the search utility, thus, one of the precipitating factors does not involve a search-in-progress. Also, at least one of my machines does not auto-sync and …

@bwiernik I agree. This is purely a cosmetic thing. But for someone less familiar with Zotero this could be unsettling.

The applying update notice box on my mac doesn’t close for me either. I let it display for 30+ minutes while I ran an errand. The last several updates have had this cosmetic problem. If I exit Zotero and reopen it, the software has been updated. I’m…

There is a way to get what you want but you will need to pay US$100 or more. That is buy a second monitor. Even a cheap second monitor can vastly improve working with all software. So, to those who wanted an excuse to buy a second monitor; this is i…

Lately, I’ve found a (rather painful) work-around. I am able to get the article metadata via the Magic Wand tool. I find that I can eventually get a screen that includes the article abstract. When I do, I copy the abstract and paste it into Zotero. …

Please be aware that author affiliation in PubMed metadata is rather messy. In 2014-15 PubMed switched from a single author affiliations field for all authors to an affiliation field for each author. The metadata from before this switch wasn’t updat…

This is a rare, intermittent problem for me but it has nothing to do with a search result (because I seldom use the search function). I’m using a Mac. Sometimes (far from frequently) when I backspace to delete a single character to the left, everyth…

Off topic: When calculating authorship stats, it is clear that Publish or Perish makes multiple calls to Google Scholar. Does it use some mechanism that could be used by Zotero to reduce the risk of being labeled a robot?

Just to be sure, under the Tools menu Add-ons>extensions the Zotero connector is enabled? No red Z normally but the display shows more subtle icons that change depending upon whether you are offered a journal article, book, conference proceeding…

What version of Firefox?

Not Acrobat Pro but simple vanilla Acrobat reader is what I am successfully using.

If you would benefit from a second opinion; I also endorse Reader over Preview. The reason I like Reader is that cutting text from the PDF document to paste into a note seems to almost always be more accurate (than a copy/paste from Preview), especi…

I switched from EndNote to Zotero in the midst of the final draft of my doctoral thesis (220 pages 410 citations). It only required a few hours. The process was not just busy-work. I ended up finding a couple of typos but, more importantly, I found …

One of us tried this with Parallels and suffered database corruption when trying to use a single database across both OSs.

Yes. I reported the GS saved search email issue in early July and again on 30 August. https://forums.zotero.org/discussion/66358/bump-need-to-refresh-webpage-to-get-journal-article-import-icon#latest The same problem still occurs when I use some …

Allow me to echo and expand on what @bwiernik said. I’ll go further and say that I’ve found ISI-tagged format available from WoS to 1) omit some author names; 2) omit some of the references that are included in the WoS website record; and 3) truncat…

I have had a similar issue with Word for Mac and another program. There are 2 things to check. Did Word treat the text as though it was a table cell with an upper border? Did word make a header for the section in question and style the header with a…

I’m trying to be helpful and not be a pedant. OS 10.12.6 is Sierra and is the OS that I use. High Sierra is OS 10.13. Maybe we are discussing different copy functions. I apologize for my confusion. I’ve not yet upgraded to 10.13. I seem to recall so…

Google Scholar is a really comprehensive index but, as bwiernik said, the metadata available for download is usually incomplete and is often wrong. It is best to follow the link to the page GS identified and download the metadata from there. Althoug…

Command+C works for me. I’ve used it several times in the last hour. The content goes to clipboard and may be imported to Zotero. I didn’t incorporate the shift key and I haven’t yet upgraded to the most recent Mac OS version (High Sierra).

Update: This has nothing related to Zotero. The problem exists even on a computer that does not have Zotero installed. Go to doi.org and enter a doi in the field. If it is an Elsevier journal the doi will not resolve to ScienceDirect. Including the …

Here is one example: https://journals.co.za/content/journal/10520/EJC-60be1292f Many of the Sabinet journals have this problem but it is by far not limited to Sabinet. I'll follow this with examples from PubMed in a few hours. Thanks

Yes to everything said about the Zotero button. But please know that the best way to get accurate, complete, and reliable information from Google Scholar is to use it as an index and click through to the publishers' websites. Then, use the Zotero bu…

What @adamsmith said: For example, the Chicago Manual of Style (15) states: “Authors’ names are normally given as they appear on the title pages of their books or above their articles. Certain adjustments, however, should be made to assist correct …
