Nothing to do with the Zotero Connector, which runs in your browser. That's only relevant for saving items to Zotero and for Google Docs integration.

Note that you might need to restart Zotero and refresh the Google Docs tab after installing the Zotero Connector beta.

This is yet another problem stemming from the Google Docs UI changes they've been testing with a small number of users.

When having entered the citation in the field it just keeps loading and the document never updates. Only way to get out of loading mode is by closing down zotero and refreshing google docs.

You should try with Zotero Connector 5.0.117 for Firefox, after restarting Zotero and reloading Google Docs.

It will update automatically in Chrome. You'll just need to reload Google Docs.
