Yes, please! This would be very useful for those of us who store references for different fields, for example, as I do. Ideally, one would also be able to have multiple libraries open simultaneously, in different windows of Zotero.

Excellent. Good news. Thank you for this update. If this option menu ever gets expanded, my preference would be to allow putting year at end, or omitting it completely, just "Author-Title".
-
@bwiernik Thank you for the comment. I thought that might be the case. Is is possible to add the "suppress end punctuation" option to the Zotero plugin dialogue box, alongside the "suppress author" option?
-
Would this be a technically possible solution (for footnotes and endnotes, at least)? 1. If one uses Zotero to create the footnote/endnote (via Zotero plugin command Add/Edit Citation, while cursor is within the main document text), then one shoul…

Yes to this! Multiple windows of the same library, akin to the multiple windows one can open in the Mac Finder. This would be a superb addition to Zotero. Some wish list items for that: - Show the folder path of each window if appropriate, withi…

@adamsmith Excellent. I will try working this way from now on. Please do add it to the FAQ, if that is in your control (and your time permits, of course). Or maybe it's obvious to others, and I've just missed the obvious (wouldn't be the first …

@adamsmith P.S. Is the method you state actually the recommended way in general for creating footnotes/endnotes with explanatory text, rather than using prefix/suffix? Are there any downsides? This method doesn't seem to be mentioned in the online…

I have had this happen also. My work-around thus far is to drag the Zotero red dialog in the opposite direction, which citation window into the screen area. Not ideal, though, and perhaps it only works if one has a large monitor. It does seem to b…
-
@adamsmith Excellent! Thank you. I wasn't aware one could do that. I assumed the "Add/Edit Citation" command of the Zotero Word plugin was only to be used by inserting the citation point within the main text of the document, and that attempting t…

@adamsmith Thank you for the comment. The footnote does also include Zotero citation(s) though; the textual comments I am adding are related to those citations. So I would like to do this in the Zotero citation. Are you suggesting to manually …
-
@dstillman Yes, exactly. An additional related idea: some kind of tag/marker for the PDFs to indicate that the annotations of that PDF are stored in Zotero. Maybe just a different color of the font of the PDF name in the Zotero list, or somethin…
-
@adamsmith Thank you for checking...hope this can be resolved. The only workaround I have found is to do an advanced search, choose the collection, etc. But that's clearly not ideal in terms of efficiency.
-
Hello, all - Any hope for a resolution to this (if it is indeed a bug)? It's still the behavior even in the current beta. Thank you... and happy new year!
-
@astroHao Yes, I imagine the developers will prefer to avoid this option, as it's risky. Namely, what happens if a user ends up having the document open simultaneously in both the Zotero PDF reader and an external PDF reader? Maybe it's possible …
-
@dstillman Thank you for the clarification. Will create a new thread for thoughts on this.
-
A further request (or should this be a new thread?): If possible, PDFs should always open to the first page, or to the page set in the URI attached to the Zotero item. Instead, I notice that they open to the last page viewed when the document was …
-
@dstillman Thank you. The existence of the Shift modifier key is extremely helpful. As for opening in another PDF viewer, your concerns make sense, of course. What of the following idea then: Implement the option to open the document in another …

Also experiencing this problem. Same problem happens with (Mac) preview if I instead set that as the default PDF viewer. In my case, I'm not sure if the failure happened with an update of Acrobat, or an update of the OS (to Monterey) or update to …

Hello, all - This problem has recurred; this is now on a new M1 MacBook Pro with MacOS Monterey. All updates installed to Adobe Acrobat, the MacOS. Using the latest Zotero beta. Whether I set the Mac's default PDF viewer to Preview or Acrobat, …

Hello - Please do consider adding this functionality, akin to folder aliases in the MacOS Finder (and I believe "shortcuts" work similarly in Windows). This would be extremely useful. My folder hierarchy collection is also becoming rather complic…

@adamsmith Thank you for clarification. I thought I was going mad (which might still be true; false dichotomy there). It's actually nicer with the new method, as one only needs the single keyboard shortcut both for adding and editing citations (…

Adding my vote to this... Also there should be an easier way to merge tags with differing cases; right now, as I understand the method, one must manually rename the undesired tag so that its capitalization matches that of the desired tag. It would…

Hello, all - Does anyone know how to properly enter a single review, which reviews multiple books? If one uses the "Reviewed Author" field, then the formatting is improper: All the authors are listed together after the list of book titles, instea…

@n.fitzgerald13 I create a separate Zotero item for a chapter if I think I might cite it separately. I use Zutilo's command for that: Create Book Section, which creates a Zotero item linked to the book item in Zotero. Yes, in Word, then I can eit…
-
@bwiernik Thank you for the response. All makes sense. Just wanted to get an idea of conventions in this regard. I shall continue on with just citing chapters where that particular chapter title and subject are specifically relevant to a subject, …
-
@dstillman Thank you for reply. I see your point about differentiation of functions here. The dock-drag is not a bad solution. I just mix up the two functions at times and end up trying to drag the .ris into Zotero's window directly, and then acc…
-
@bwiernik Thank you for that. Still, it would be great to have a command solution, especially for converting multiple tags simultaneously. Simplest would be a (contextual?) menu command, with possibility of assigning a keyboard shortcut.
-
Thank you, @qddb, for the clarification. Glad to have this working. It's been extremely useful for linking directly to articles in anthologies.
-
@gpatten Thank you for that. Sorry I didn't reply to your detailed comment at the time, which mirrors my thinking thus far. I've thus far been using the related items approach as follows: - create single book Zotero item with the anthology attach…

@dstillman Thank you for that. Glad this is under consideration. I suspect many others would value this feature. At least in the way I work, I often start with just some initial quote, paraphrase, from a source, inserted into my document. Then l…
