adam: no, you're quite right that I'm not quite active on the forum. but I do keep tabs on what's going on here.

We have had many contacts with Googlers over the years, although mostly in the Google Books project rather than Google Scholar. Without getting into details, it's extremely hard to get Google to respond to requests for leniency like this. I don't th…

The National Endowment for the Humanities, knowing that almost all grants (from them as well as most funders) go to the initial creation of projects rather than their ongoing maintenance and continued innovation, gives challenge grants to build endo…

@Catlynnl: Sorry for any confusing terminology; we'll make this a lot clearer for everyday users when 1.5 goes out of beta. Anyway, you can use 1.5 without WebDAV. WebDAV is only used to back up and synchronize files or attachments, like PDFs. Your …

Thanks to everyone for your words of generous support. We will likely issue a statement in the near future.

There will be a plainspoken non-legalese privacy/usage policy for the server that will make this clear, but briefly, the answer is that it has always been the policy of the Zotero project that users own their own data and should be able to do with i…

I've contacted the GMU press team again, and sent you a photo of the Zotero team that I have with me.

@fhz: I think you misread Sean's comment. We are committed to providing institutions with a variety of options for using Zotero on their own without us (and we have been documenting some of these solutions from the start). But given the complexity a…

We plan to make IA compatible (and much more) as part of our recently announced alliance with them.

Hi emellaich, Thanks for your appreciation of the project, and also for your concerns. I can assure you that we are just getting started, that we are financially on sound footing, and that we will be around for a long, long time. The Center for His…

Not in my quick test of one of the interfaces for DBLP. However, Zotero is compatible with CiteSeer, which provides access to a very similar CS bibliographic database. You can add a request for DBLP to our thread on wanted translators.

We are obviously deeply indebted to Codec, and he need not do these styles if he is feeling overworked, unaccompanied, or underappreciated (though we have expressed our great appreciation through several channels, and let me say it again: Thanks so …

Eurostile is our logo font. I believe we had to use a different font for the status bar to make it slightly more legible at a small font size.

@mbluth: "Use Zotero for downloaded RIS/Refer files" = "Use Zotero for downloaded Endnote files" Just uncheck that box in the prefs.
-
Custom item types and fields are planned for an upcoming version of Zotero.
-
We had to delay implementing the integration of Firefox bookmarks until the upcoming (3.0) version of the browser. Mozilla is completely redoing the bookmarking system into a database (just like Zotero), so the integration should be worth the wait.

@Maria-- The translator for Princeton is a generalized translator for a popular online catalog software package used by many libraries, so to grab the Richardson number would require a distinct translator for Princeton. This is not out of the realm …

As an open source project we are always open to help and suggestions. I'm not entirely sure what you would like to do, so maybe you can explain further (and feel free to do so either on the forums or via email through our contact list). We have in …

The best way to do this is by using the editable preview enabled by chrome://zotero/content/tools/csledit.xul.
-
Better than instructions, we need installers that automate the process. There is a ticket for this.
-
Mike-- Thanks for your offer of help--it would be fantastic if all of these ProQuest sites (and perhaps others ones too) would work with Zotero. Probably the easiest way of doing it is just to add a RIS export link for each item; we can then very s…

We should be able to add it from the Google Docs doc. Just let us know when you're ready, and thanks again!

Thanks for catching these errors. I've fixed them. I don't speak Dutch but at least from a skim of the screenshots and the sections the draft of the Quick Start Guide looks good. I wonder if we should move the "what is Zotero" and installation sect…

We're working on it right now. Should have something very soon, and when we do, your copy of Zotero will auto-update within 24 hours. (You can also manually check for updates in preferences.)
-
We are trying to finalize it by the end of this week. Recently added features will be supported.

We would be delighted to host Quick Start Guides in other languages. The guides we link to aren't translations of our English-language Quick Start Guide, but are very good introductions to the software. Anyway, if you can provide a translation of th…

Not currently. We would like to produce a GUI or other non-techy way of producing styles easily. The advantage of creating a CSL through the more technical methods is that that style can be then shared with other Zotero users, and indeed can serve …

The synchronization stuff is still coming soon. There are many threads in the forums on handling multiple machines right now; possibilities include import/export in RDF, installing portable Firefox and Zotero on a USB drive, and using the preference…

We would like to interoperate with CiteULike too, but it doesn't have an API or easy way for us to create a utility to sync both ways.

This is still coming up soon on the major to-dos for the next version, but we have had to work very hard to tie up all loose ends on 1.0 so that Mozilla could incorporate Zotero into the Firefox Campus Edition, due out tomorrow. So our timeline has …
