Aha, got it, thanks
-
First of all, thanks for this great feature, it really is extremely useful. Unfortunately I don't have any of the translator hidden preferences in my about.config, either in Firefox or Standalone (i.e. a search for "extensions.zotero.translators." …

Are all your bibtex entries like this, or just some of them? In my case (see this thread) a similar problem was caused by exporting "standalone" notes (i.e. zotero notes not attached to a parent item). There will be a fix for this at some point, b…

Got it! (for a repetitive task homing in on a problem item is surprisingly satisfying). Problem item: https://gist.github.com/3857904 Without this item and the standalone notes Jabref import works fine. It was an unmatched brace in an attachement…

I'll see what makes sense as a way of handling standalone notes. Probably just skipping them? I'm a newcomer to bibtex, so I can't offer any better suggestions I'm afraid - skipping them would be perfectly fine in my case, I don't know if they reall…

Got it (at least partially). The invalid records seem to be produced for any standalone note. Exporting only my standalone notes (of which I have 14) gives only empty records of the format given above, excluding the standalone notes resolves the "ex…

Never mind - should have played around a little more, at least for partial exports it exports either by title, or whatever field is sorted on (not sure which, wanted to reply quickly so as not to put you to the trouble of answering my question above…
-
Okay, will do - do you know how the bibtex translator decides on the order of records by any chance (I can't see any obvious pattern when I eyeball the output)? If I can sort my zotero library the same way as the .bib I can probably do this today,…

Not in Zotero itself, but there is a third-party plugin called Zotfile that can do this. See http://www.columbia.edu/~jpl2136/zotfile.html

FYI the URL of the style repository is http://www.zotero.org/styles/ as poirmww says typing "American Political Science Association" or APSA into the search box should bring it up.
-
It seems then that a logical improvement to zotero would be to make collections searchable items (something rather logical for a large tree) You might want to follow this thread where this improvement has been suggested.
-
+1 - this is one of those UI features that I really like - it adds useful functionality, is unobtrusive, intuitive and can simply be ignored by people who don't want to use it.
-
A collection search would be a nice feature to have - I'm up at around 300 collections and growing and looking for a deeply nested collection can take a little while if I can't quite remember where I put it. Edit: at the moment I work around this b…

Not sure about 1 (there may be some technical limit, but someone on the development side would have to answer that). For 2 you can use Ctrl+A (or Cmd+ A on OSX) when you have the collection you are interested in selected. This selects all items and …

The database you work on through the Firefox extension is actually not online - it is on the computer you are using (i.e. if you are offline everything will still work). If you choose to use sync your database is additionally synced online and to an…

A linked message such as "Search Again in My Library" could conditionally trigger only when there are no results, so that it wouldn't interfere with normal search results if that's the worry. Windows 7 explorer works this way. I could see doin…

@adamsmith - the translator works fine without proxy redirection @Dan - debug output is here: D382799133 I had a quick look at the output and it does indeed seem to be picking up an advertisement frame - I didn't realise that this was only fixed in…

Ummm... sorry to be the bearer of bad news but this still isn't working for me. I connect through EZProxy (managed by Zotero) and Zotero tries to use the DOI translator on ScienceDirect pages, which fails: Example URL: http://www.sciencedirect.com.…

Excellent, thank you - some more precious minutes to add to the countless hours Zotero saves me!

These mobile options (not all of which I knew about - highlighting the benefits of adamsmith's suggestion) are indeed fantastic. In fact I was waiting for something like this before I went out and bought a tablet. Now I am at last within sight of ne…

A wholehearted +1 from me I haven't experienced the crashes but I second this request - I have about 300 collections nested up to 8 levels deep, so it can become quite a mess if lots of them are open! Previously I just used to collapse my whole li…

And if/when you do find the add-on responsible be sure to post here so it can be tested and the list of incompatible add-ons can be updated... ...wait a sec - I don't think anyone has directed you to the list yet - that might save you a bit of time…
-
I concur on the need for an undo function for deleting collections - I live in horror of accidentally deleting a big collection which I've been building up for years (I have several hundred collections with about 50 that I don't believe I could poss…

In the biological sciences in the UK the most popular style for undergrads/postgrads is the Cell Journal style (it has been used at every department I have ever studied/worked in), so it might be worth including that one.

Yes - the proxy redirection is awesome. I remember a few months ago it broke for a day or two (my uni had switched to a new proxy system and I didn't realise for a bit). By the end of the first day I was absolutely tearing my hair out with the hassl…

Try setting "status bar icon" to "none" in the general pane of Zotero preferences.

I think the 148 attachments are the automatic snapshots that zotero creates when I add a reference, is it right? You may already be aware of this, but if you don't use them you can turn automatic snapshots off in the general pane of Zotero preferenc…

Have you emptied your Zotero trash (which is synced as well until you empty it)? It should be the last item in the collections list on the left, right click it to empty.
-
I would say that you should definitely leave them where they are - I don't know how the Zotero storage system works at this level, but they are almost certainly put there by zotero deliberately as empty "containers" to take files matching particular…

There is word integration with standalone - just not with OSX 10.5, it's certainly there with the most recent version of OSX (10.6) as well as with windows and linux.
