Just to be sure that I'm not missing something... My understanding is that Zotero inserts abbreviations into citations and does not add abbreviations to the Zotero record itself, yes? Is there some utility or plug-in that I've missed? I'd like a po…

I watched a training video and I was able to learn what I didn't know about Zutillo. https://pressbooks.library.yorku.ca/masteringzotero/chapter/an-easier-way-to-manage-tags-and-related-items/

I'm not at my computer so I can't verify this (please correct me if I'm remembering wrong). There used to be a setting in the detailed hidden Zotero preferences to control the auto-delete duration. I believe that the default setting is 30 days.

If you are accessing PubMed via EBSCO, you should try directly getting your records from PubMed. Every day I do a PubMed search, select more than 150 records, save and import the nbib file into Zotero. I use Firefox.

The second URL (via-i hub) works for my system but I get a 404 error using your first URL (oenrr.top). After updating your translator maybe provide a Debug ID for the failure using the second URL. What happens if you access ScienceDirect via the D…

Do you have more than one Zotero record of that document and did you cite different versions?

For journals not in PubMed visit the ISSN LTEA: https://www.issn.org/services/online-services/access-to-the-ltwa/ Scroll down and you will find a text entry field.

I know that is what is supposed to happen with Firefox but for some file extensions I don't get a "save-as" option. This bothers me more than you can know.

When I need to download XPI file I use a browser other than Firefox. Chrome or Safari will download the file to a standard location and you can then do what Dan Stillman said above. Firefox is my default browser but I use Chrome or Safari to downloa…

I'm probably missing something basic. I cannot get Zutillo to work and I'm frustrated with my incompetence. I installed Zutillo 3.10.0 and restarted Zotero (6.0.20-beta.1+0ffe3122c). I see numerous options in the Zutillo Preferences. However, I do n…

Thanks. I'll ask that they change the RIS. The message I sent (above) was actually sent in 2019. I'll try Zutillo.

I've been thinking about this for more than a decade. I wish that it was easy to limit syncing to specific collections/subcollections. Or, perhaps, to a separate library. That is, to only sync when changes are made to records in specified collection…

At one local university, after multiple individual requests to IT were unproductive, the library dean was successful at getting IT to make controlled exceptions to security protocols for Zotero.

Concerning students who don't understand the value of citing sources: I point out that the process of citing the sources behind statements is at the core of academic writing. It demonstrates that the student has been exposed to the body of relevant …

To clarify my complaints in my post above: Certainly not every student but about 1/4 to 1/3 of them were greatly frustrated by the basics of learning to use the software. edit: These people use MS Word as an electronic typewriter and overuse the re…

I've given large group lecture-demonstrations of Zotero to undergraduate criminal justice and nursing students. The things that give them the most trouble (as said above by the OP) involve installing Zotero on Mac or Windows, getting Zotero to work …

The volunteers who develop styles want you to use the exact references given in the examples. Campbell & Pedersen, Mares. Two citations, for a journal article and a book chapter, in the format of the style you're requesting. Create these citatio…

Certainly not common but not particularly rare when PDF files are one or two pages, the PDF doesn't have its own DOI, and there are prominent DOIs in the reference list. This occurs particularly in journal article html displays where the article i…

You will always get much more accurate and complete metadata if follow the Google Scholar link to the publishers' sites and import to Zotero from there. GS-direct metadata is more accurate now than it was a couple of years ago but it is still missin…

I hope that after you use auto-merge that you carefully verify each record in your Zotero library. Especially for systematic reviews and meta-analyses, bibliographic accuracy and precision are paramount. I don't mean this as an insult but there is a…

Yes!! I was just about to correct my post. I'll add a correction or cross through.

See the adamsmith post below. I commented here about the wrong thing. This post is correct for the reference list but this thread is NOT about the bibliography but about in-text citations. Take home point. 1)The MHRA style guide is freely avai…

@leylim @jqueky Kernel panics happen on Macs and other Unix-based systems. Look up "kernel panic" on Wikipedia. An application cannot be responsible for the crash but the normal operation of any application can trigger the problem in a computer wit…

@mdsimants : "I understand that. However, that would only apply if I had used another Outler piece in between the others, right?" As one who reads lots of papers (and even more reference lists of papers I haven't read), I would always like to see t…

Do you have, “ Discoveries in Health Policy” in the Zotero Website Title field? I assume that you are using the Web Page item type.

I think that it should be: https://iiif.io/ The dot-org website is something different that you should avoid.

@mindhorizon No one here is saying that you don’t have a situation where you have a problem with apparent duplicates. Something happened that has caused problems. That cause _cannot_ be the act of syncing — except in only one situation I’ll discuss …

@axre In the case of this request and similarly with the many other user requests, it is _not_ that the developers ignore or dismiss the desired changes. As someone who has made requests for program and UI changes, over the years, I understand the f…

The quality is excellent with one exception with one significant exception: some (but not all) of the page ranges are preceded with "pp." One more thing, the RIS doesn't include the language nor the ISSN. I think that I have convinced them to includ…
