(I'm assuming you're asking about Chrome or Edge. The Firefox connector is just an XPI, and the Safari extension is bundled with the Mac desktop app.)

The default PDF viewer "Preview" on MacOS and Firefox's integrated PDF viewer are both able to render these boxes properly.
