As it turns out, the old version of the doc has a hand-made biblio using Word References. When it was updated w/Zotero, not all of the references were updated to Zotero references. Hence the errors. T

They were still in the trash, so I could restore all of them back to my library. As soon as I did restore them, the citations in the word document were existing again.
