What you probably want is to create a regular item (Book, Journal Article, Web Page) and then attach the file (PDF, snapshot, etc.) to that regular item. That is how Zotero handles such things when you do it automatically. If you save an item throug…

In the Zotero client, select the items you want to copy over then drag them into the group library in the left column. If you want to have them within a collection, you would need to create that collection in the group library first.
-
Are you using file syncing or just library syncing? The error could be referring to the former.
-
Until and unless Google provides access to Chrome's underlying functionality, it's impossible to create an extension for it. As I understand it, it's impossible to make even simple extensions for Chrome right now and Zotero is very, very complex.
-
Something like this is planned, though the exact details are still being hammered out. In the interim, you could just duplicate you Library as a Group Library. That would allow you to control access.
-
Group attachments are not yet supported, apart from simple things like notes, but it is in the works.

Are you using some funny theme? I'm finding I can't replicate this with the default theme or the other one I use. Trevor was able to with his theme, which increased the size of the tabs. i can't shrink the right pane to the point where the tabs star…

If you were really clever you could probably come up with some way for it to prepend the appropriate formatting to each field, then export to something like html, then save it as text and import using RIS or something. It would be a lot of work and …

At the moment, the only attachments that should be fully accessible online are notes and maybe links. PDFs, snapshots and most anything else should only display as notes about their creation date and maybe a link to the original page if it was pulle…

1.5b2 jumped straight to 2.0b3. You can think of them as being pretty much continuous. All the same features are available.
-
You might need to provide more information before anyone can help you. What is different about the groups and your permissions within them? What kinds of items are you trying to copy? Are they regular items or attachments? What versions of Zotero an…

You can fix this by changing the default style around. Open the styles manager in Format > Styles and Formatting or by hitting F12. Right click on "Default", hit Modify, go to Indents and Spacing and change the spacing to 1.5. The plugin uses t…

If I'm understanding you right, you have to REALLY shrink down the Firefox window before this happens, to the point where Zotero is no longer especially usable anyway. I'm sure there's a minimum size that Zotero can reasonably be expected to work at…

If you can map the web folder into your local file system, I don't see why it wouldn't work. http://sysblogd.wordpress.com/2007/09/09/ubuntu-mounting-remote-filesystem-using-davfs2-fuse/ You can also run davfs2 in Debian. Maybe some other distros…

2.0b5 does have new behaviour that governs double-clicking. It's supposed to open the file, be it a PDF or a snapshot or what have you. I think your problem is that Firefox is not configured to open PDFs the way you want. If you go to the Firefox Pr…

In reference to the second one, I'm actually not able to reproduce it, myself. Is there anything else unusual about the items you're trying to site?
-
I've spent a while with the different plugins isolating the exact behavior. There are certainly some inconsistencies. I've created a ticket. https://www.zotero.org/trac/ticket/1493 Here's an excerpt explaining the current behavior, warts and all: …

Duly noted. We're on it.

Actually, this is no longer the case. The data model was changed around with 2.0b3. Links and snapshots can only exist as child items. If you already had them in your library, I think they remain as they were, but you can no longer create them.
-
beta.zotero.org should return soon. At the moment, accessing your zotero library through www.zotero.org works pretty well, at least on an iPhone.
-
How do you mean? If it's simply an acknowledgment, I don't believe there's any standard you need to adhere to. If you're writing a computer science paper and need to cite Zotero, there is a Computer Program item type. That's the only context in whic…

The parent-child system isn't really designed with that in mind. It's just an organizational thing. Notes, files, links, etc., that relate to a given item are associated with it as child items or attachments (they mean the same thing). As far as cit…

Sorry, the documentation would have been at least slightly less obtuse if I had realized that the image link had been broken. Now there's a visual, at least. But yes, please, suggestions on the documentation are always welcome.

You're right. I phrased that quite poorly. I can never keep track of who has released what for what platform. 3.1 officially works natively on Intels. PPCs are only officially supported as far as 2.4.0. The Mac Porting Project has it up to 3.0.1. I …
-
Why use NeoOffice or X11 OpenOffice on a Mac? They just released 3.1 natively for Intel Macs, and the Mac Porting Project has a version that work on PPC, you just need to do a little digging to find it.

Thanks for catching this. All better now.
-
I've proposed at some point that it simply open the Preferences window to the Sync pane. I'll keep advocating for it.
-
I agree that you probably don't have enough space to work with, as is. I'm not sure any plans are in the works to hide the toolbar. The idea of allowing Zotero to be used in a sidebar has been kicked around for a while, though, and may just happen. …

Does the link to http://www.zotero.org/support/which_version not get the idea across? I'm not sure it's a good idea to slap some blinking red warning link on the main page telling people the perils of upgrading, as that will scare people off needles…

It may not be immediately obvious what has happened when your library is synced to the server. If you've entered your username and password on the Vista computer, then hit the green arrow/circle (Sync) button it has probably uploaded your data to th…
