jmschank's barcode scanner, and the one built into Zandy, have the major drawback of using a pretty low-quality metadata provider; both use OCLC's xISBN lookup service, which is really easy to set up, but it isn't very rich. The identifier lookup i…

This is clearly an explicit decision built into the RIS importer, and I can change it pretty easily. Are there any thoughts either way from others who use RIS? If we lift this restriction, we'll probably still limit it to titles and abstracts, and …

We didn't yet have logic for standards in the CrossRef translator, which underlies the DOI lookup. Please go to http://github.com/ajlyon/translators/raw/master/CrossRef.js and save the file to the translators directory of your Zotero data director…

They could still add proper metadata in some format that we read and send the metadata-updated event from time to time, to get Zotero support without requiring a translator at all.

The way we do RDF export, we build the entire datastore in memory, then write it out to an XML representation. There might be ways to improve performance for very large exports, but it won't be easy-- we could produce the XML record-by-record, but w…

I have no idea why the whitelist has not been expanded.

Zotero is the only free solution out there with any sort of serious Word integration. The limitation on image captions is rather small, and it can in many cases be avoided by using the quick cite function-- just set the Quick Cite style in the Zote…

Simon? I don't know where to even begin troubleshooting this one-- the error sounds pretty internal to the connector system.
-
With this solution, you're working in a full-featured JavaScript environment, so you certainly could pull up all the items with the desired substring and use regular expressions to fix them up. Just look online at regular expressions for JavaScript.

See http://www.zotero.org/support/troubleshooting_translator_issues Please give a URL and an error report ID. Thanks!

This is the Error: Permission denied for to call method HTMLDocument.evaluate error that we've seen before. I really don't see why it's occurring here. I hope Simon will be able to look into this, since I don't see the cause for the error (and rela…

(Also - Worldcat RIS provides multiple ISBNs - the current translator imports all of them - what would be the desired behavior) I've covered some of this ground before: https://www.zotero.org/trac/ticket/1604 and https://www.zotero.org/trac/ticket/…

ISBN-10 and ISBN-13 are working for me; I just tried 5776118557 and 9785776118555 (equivalent ones, but still).

Well, Mikko and I have done the legwork already for native Android and iOS implementations, so I doubt anyone is likely to make another one using Appcelerator. Don't have experience with it, but certainly worth keeping in mind for future projects.

In that case, we can do it on some other basis, like preferring conference papers over newsletters when we have both for a single page.
-
Can you add the item key to the list of elements for use in renaming?
-
Don't worry about breaking ISBN lookup. We'll test thoroughly and make it work. We can also implement a fallback to COinS if the RIS fails.
-
You can also post it to a page and include the data Google uses for indexing in Google Scholar, and hope it shows up in their index: http://scholar.google.com/intl/en/scholar/inclusion.html If it's in Google Scholar, Zotero's lookup should find it.

Thinking about this, I agree we should try to query LoC-- one possibility is to query xISBN, OCLC's ISBN cross-reference service, which will give us LCCNs for getting the full MARC or MODS data from LoC. For items without an LCCN, we can still fall …

FPO is updated to do filing dates as well. The Google Patents link is working for me. Have you tried restarting Firefox? That may help with the Google Patents one, since I changed its target expression.

Not sure what happened, but the bars all went red, and the entire repo is listed as having been updated at 2012-01-11 08:15:00. I got spooked and thought it might have been me, but I'm pretty sure that isn't something I did; my last commit was at 8…

Please provide sample URLs to make sure I get this right.

I just went through and fixed Google Patents as well. Update from the preferences to get the fixed version. Thanks for bringing this to our attention.

I just pushed out an improved version of FreePatentsOnline-- update translators in the Zotero preferences to get it immediately. Google Patents might be broken-- it used to work quite well.
-
This is now in the main translator repository. The updated Google Scholar translator will be installed automatically in Zotero clients within 24 hours. Click "Update now" from the Zotero preferences to get the new version immediately.

Please go to http://github.com/ajlyon/translators/raw/master/Google Scholar.js and save the file to the translators directory of your Zotero data directory (http://www.zotero.org/support/zotero_data). It should start working again. If this works fo…

I just pushed another version that should finally get this working. And it works for me here, testing with standard Zotero in SD's guest mode.

Zotero doesn't know how to read EUC-KR. Can you convert the file to UTF-8 using some tool before import?
-
Try updating translators from the Zotero preferences, and it should work.

Odd. Turns out to be a JavaScript issue with the MAX_DETECT_LINES constant. I'll push out a fix ASAP.
