Could we please have this feature? It's a must-have for humanities scholars. I just want to be able to enter free-form text in the date field (including things like "April-June 1935") and have it kept as-is.

Zotero 2.1 has been released, but this feature doesn't seem to have been added. I've been waiting for it for several years now, and it's extremely inconvenient not to have it. Can we have a status update on its implementation?

I tried updating another document in the same way (by deleting the bibliography first), and got a different error, which required a different workaround. Why I tried to re-insert the bibliography, I got this message: An error occurred communicating…

Thanks. Following the advice in "Debugging Broken Documents", I deleted the bibliography in a fresh backup copy of the document. Then when I tried to edit a citation, Zotero said "Your document must be permanently upgraded"; I clicked OK, and got …

I don't understand why the Zotero team seems to be focusing their efforts on what strike me as non-crucial features (like maintaining your citation database online) when the OpenOffice plugin, which is absolutely crucial functionality, is so badly b…

I'm having the same problem. I switched a document from Chicago Author-Date to Chicago Note with Bibliography, but now I can't change it to any other style. I'm using Zotero 1.0.7 and Firefox 3.

The workaround you've described is either to turn on visual effects and do some simple configuration (not difficult, but I'd prefer not to turn on visual effects just to get a Zotero to behave normally), or to learn another programming language so I…

I normally keep "Visual Effects" turned off, and I'd rather not have to turn them on just for Zotero.

I am using Metacity (the Ubuntu default), and actually, what I'd like is for the Zotero developers to recognise that this is a bug. The "Add/Edit Citation" dialog used to pop up in front of OpenOffice just fine, and for some reason, it's broken now…

Yes! That fixed it! Thank you very very much!

I've just tested Zotero 1.0.4 (with Firefox 3 Beta 5), and all three bugs are still there.

Thanks, en-US works; so does fr-FR. It would be nice if this was documented somewhere (not just in a bug ticket :) ). And please also see this feature request.

I set it to "en-GB", and I did restart Firefox. What did work for me is changing "general.useragent.locale" to "en-GB"; this causes Zotero to generate bibliographies in English, but strangely, it has no effect on Zotero's user interface (or on anyt…

That fixed it, thanks.

I noticed that there's a bug report for this, marked "fixed": https://www.zotero.org/trac/ticket/541 According to the ticket, the language used in bibliographies can be changed by setting the extensions.zotero.export.bibliographyLocale pre…

Great, thanks, I'll be looking forward to 1.0.4.

All three bugs also occur in Harvard format.
