@pbabin I can confirm that this is a bug. We will be looking to fix it soon, but it turns out to not be very easy. In the meantime you can click "Refresh" to update the numbering as suggested by adamsmith above.

If you are adding items exclusively from google scholar, then you will indeed eventually get locked out by google. There is nothing Zotero can do about this. If you do get locked out, you will need to click through individual links in google scholar…

Have you gone through the usual troubleshooting motions, like restarting your browser, Zotero, computer, etc. If so, what is the error message that you are seeing? Could you submit a Report ID from one of the Connectors where you have run into probl…

Could you submit a Report ID?

What graphics card do you have and what version of drivers?

The text "debugging broken documents" above is a link to a page that has all the information.

Does it work if you hold the [Shift] key while loading Zotero? If it does, go into Zotero Preferences -> Advanced -> Config Editor and set "layers.acceleration.disabled" to false, then try restarting Zotero normally.

@marita_vig You've submitted this Debug ID before you received the error message from Zotero by the looks of it, and while it was still processing the citations in your document. You have over 700, which is huge and will take a while. You can see Zo…

@swdr I am not sure what your current problem is. If Zotero does not list the Word plugin, you wouldn't be able to even communicate between Zotero and Word. Can you? I just looked it up and realised that we actually couldn't add a progress bar on m…

The Zotero toolbar has a button for Document Preferences (looks like a gear), where you can switch to bookmarks to be able to save as .docx. Do note that we recommend to stick with ReferenceMarks and .odt if you plan to continue working with LibreOf…

Age of documents is a highly improbable cause. Number of citations could be. But it's weirder than that. The crash reports suggest that it's crashing in a different location of the Word runtime everytime, even for the same users, which suggests that…

@swdr I assume you solved your problem here https://forums.zotero.org/discussion/comment/316920/#Comment_316920 The progress bar appears when Zotero is processing citations, in between displaying citing dialogs. E.g. It should appear once you selec…

If you are using the classic citation dialog, clearing the text in the editor and confirming that you want the citation to be empty will restore the original. I don't know if hiding the editor ever worked and it's unclear whether it should. Either w…

What version of Word on what operating system do you use? Are you storing citations as Endnotes?

This is a Word, not a Zotero issue per-se, so Microsoft support might be able to say more. Otherwise I'd try moving the Zotero.dotm file out of the Templates folder and only keeping it in the startup folder. Something trivial as renaming it to Zoter…

If you are using the quick citation dialogue, items already cited in the document will appear at the top of the list, including those cited with Mendeley. If you cite the already cited entries, you won't have this problem.

@taylorspencephd I'm afraid there are no positive developments on this front. Over the past year I have spent many hours, probably days, trying to reproduce the crashing without success and attempting various fixes with the community with no solutio…

Word add-in (bundled with Zotero) is not present in your install for some reason. Try redownloading and reinstalling Zotero.

Do other (e.g. new) documents still work when you start getting this error? It is not out of the question that OneDrive sync is causing this.

Could you produce a Debug ID from Zotero? 1. In the Help menu, go to Debug Output Logging and select Enable. 2. Attempt to insert the bibliography in Word and wait for it to fail 3. Before doing anything else, return to Help → Debug Output Logging …

Could you submit a Report ID? Do you have a backup of the document and can you attempt to convert it again to see if you get the same issue?

You should restart Zotero and Word, then run through the debugging broken documents steps.

Does it work if you restart Zotero between working in LibreOffice and Word on the same document?
-
Are your citations stored as ReferenceMarks or Bookmarks? To check, click Document Preferences in Zotero toolbar in LibreOffice in the document you're working on.
-
Zotero does not touch text surrounding citations when converting between different styles. You'll have to move the periods manually.

See https://www.zotero.org/support/troubleshooting_translator_issues If some pages work and others say that Zotero is not available, provide an URL for a page that works and a page that doesn't, along with the Debug ID for a failed save as describe…
