Currently, the shortcut to save the Abstract or the Extra field in the Info Tab is Shift+Enter. https://www.zotero.org/support/kb/keyboard_shortcuts To be consistent, I think it would be logical to keep the same shortcut to save the annotations.

You can make the abstract more compact with the Zotero Abstract Cleaner plugin. For the rest, you should give more information on where the abstract is coming from, how it was copied to the abstract field, and what you would expect to see.
