update ii. on dual monitor setting (haven't moved across), pdf in new window - not new tab - opening a PDF which was not recently opened (therefore utilising the default zoom factor), right click button might not appear in the UI. the menu appears…

@dstillman - cannot reproduce in troubleshooting mode. the deletion is triggered by backspace on keyboard. However, after troubleshooting mode, I can't seem to reproduce this problem.. hmmm.

@dstillman - afaik this issue is new, never seen this issue before the most recent updates (perhaps Zotoro, perhaps not) but am not sure how long ago... so, the issue persists after, when only the built-in montor connects: 1. restart zotero, 2. r…

update: issue persists when pdf is opened in a new window.

I guess it depends on what you mean by sync. If you just mean transferring files from one to another, then sure, it's possible but it's not automatic, only manual. If you mean that zotero takes care of monitoring changes and then reflect these chang…

@bhoconnor I guess it depends on your needs really. Zotero's inbuilt annotation works great. One downside might be that it doesn't encode the annotations into the PDF itself. But then this might also be an advantage as its is more efficient to trans…

another follow up: https://alfred.app/workflows/yohasebe/fzf/ still playing around with it, but i feel like i wouldn't need to rely on launchbar (yay from my 8GB RAM mac).

I do have a dual monitor setup, but i haven't moved zotero across displays. (moreover, the issue occurs on both of my monitors without movement across them, i just tested this - figured this might be of help). The pdf is opened in a tab.

@xkuri if by *official* you mean that of boox's rather than of zotero's, then it's simply that the zotero-generated annotations are saved only in zotero's database, not directly to the pdf files themselves. As far as I'm aware zotero has not (and p…

well spotted - many thanks! @oyvindbs. Just connected my Zotero account on Boox - the browsing is quite neat as it inherits the structure of the (web) library, also that it's quite responsive (think of using a file browser). However, as I use my o…

edit: bug 1) seems to be due to my annotation falling outside of the page/margin.

update: notwithstanding the aforementioned, I discover that even with an annotation / annotated in-text area selected, upon pressing backspace, the viewer goes to the previous page *as well as* deleting the selected annotation. However this cannot b…

+1 on both points!

@dstillman so far tested with 7.0.2-beta.3+182bfb9a3, mac 14.6.1: no issue when all plugins are disabled. I previously had bbt and attanger enabled. You? @shenpeixin
-
ditto. though my experience has been more of restarting the mac (thus quitting zotero) and the system almost always prompts a force quit on zotero as it is preventing the restart.

+1 hope to have this implemented in Z7!

dropping in to thank cyclope's link. the plugin BBT is broken in b70 and above and while waiting for the fix, I'll stick to b68 for the time being. update 20240414: BBT plugin works again. Now on b74.

Just a short follow-up for those in my position: I suspect a new issue has emerged from spotlight, that its effort of trying to index zotero storage folder renders corruption/usability issue even with non-zotero directory searches. I have just no…

@dstillman could you confirm, in case of using external reader, that the pdf files (and annotations embed in file) will sync? and if so, at what frequency? on change? Currently, my attachments edited externally are syncing, but since it's not menti…
-
Echoing @Ioannes I haven't been a Zoo user but from what I've read, one needs to configure an external pdf viewer to read the attachment from zotero (which is saved in a temporary directory), then have the amended/annotated document save back to th…

following - my zotero memory usage can reach 9GB with plugins (bbt, night, obsidian note, and wandering file). I have a dozen PDF opening but none is fancy, they don't contain any graphs, chances are everyone is less than 1mb. Now disabled all to ve…

Just linking my post here on the same issue: https://forums.zotero.org/discussion/105641/7-beta-non-urgent-crash-when-fetching-pdf#latest

Thank you @ dstillman, we're getting somewhere. I can do reset sync history for files in batch (i.e. after locating several files, one reset sync history will force sync them all), reset sync history for individual file is not necessary. So no pro…
-
@dstillman Perhaps I'm not explaining right...allow me to try again. I'm still manually linking back the attachments (for whatever fault/reason), and it's still the case that if I do not perform reset sync history these files will not be synced ev…

@tim820 thanks very much for bringing that to my attention, though my issue is rather dissimilar to that of your referred post. I detect that some of my pdfs would have annotations embedded and I'd much rather line them up manually than risk loosing…
