Thanks @tychen742, glad you found it useful!

I ended up doing this manually by right clicking each citation and selecting 'rename attachments'. Then changed these settings: Zotero: Revert to absolute paths Zotero: Tick both options under 'File sharing' of the Sync tab Zotfile: General tab: A…

Apologies for being lazy - I just tested this by inserting a ref into a new doc, generating a bib, changing the ref in zotero back to it's default path. Ref still seems to be linked fine, and inserting the new ref above the old caused it to change …

Hey guys, if I started a document now and inserted refs using my current library, would these refs still be linked in the doc once I switch my items back to the vanilla directory?
-
Sweet thanks Dan
-
Yeah thats true, but that would only be for open access articles or articles that have a version deposited in an open repository, correct? For standard paywalled articles I'd just have to one of the options I listed above right?
-
You also have to remove the https, at least for the doai.io ones.
-
Hmm both links don't seem to work? Tools like these are great but I just want to be able to see what papers I have are OA. Thanks for your help though, I appreciate it.
-
I'm guessing the access type wouldn't be retrievable through a DOI lookup or anything either right? I guess it would be possible for zotero to query the publication with some kind of access database but that wouldn't work for hybrid titles.
-
Ah right, never knew about that column before. It seems only 34 out of 565 articles in my current library have something in that field. Has this only recently been added?
-
Its pretty easy to use Zotero with Google drive to store files. Simply use Zotfile to send the pdf to your google drive folder and use relative links. You can then mirror your zotero library on multiple computers (note this is not using google drive…

Many thanks for your help Dan.
-
You could always backup your attachment directory before hand just in case.
-
@msmitka The above solution requires you to be running the ZotFile extension (http://zotfile.com/)
-
Thanks Dan, proxies are back + redirection is happening as normal.
-
I can confirm that proxies are no longer showing in the connector for firefox. Edit: Also it appears that redirection is no longer working. When going through my institution Zotero fails to recognise or store the proxy like it usually would.
-
Thanks very much for the explanation! Much clearer to me now, I appreciate it.
-
Hi @bwiernik - I'm using Zotero 5 with a Firefox connector. If you use BetterBibTeX do you still have to use the RTF Scan method? I'm confused as to what the actual process is for using all of these tools together.
-
Hmm tried it that way too and still no luck. I guess I'll just retrain zotero. Good to know you're working on a fix though, thanks for your help.
-
Ah it would have been because I cleared the cache :-( I followed your instructions and the proxies were not restored - is this because that method only works if you have not cleared the cache?
-
Oh right, I assumed he meant 'publisher page'
-
Update: Just saw this on the Zotero version history page under 5.0.5 (not yet released): Zotero Connector changes Restore proxies previously created in Zotero for Firefox This should help a lot if it means that all the older proxies will now …
-
Thanks @adamsmith for confirming. On a side note, are there any plans to include a feature similar to the 'Google scholar citations for Zotero' plugin (which no longer works past 5.0)?
-
Looks like it only works when I actually go through my institution. If I go through my institution to a database and then link through to the publishers page it works for the publisher - I guess I have to just build up my list of hostnames again.
-
@warguelles Thank you! Just saw that those instructions were put on the zotfile page. I knew I was missing something obvious! @Joscha Thank you so much for continuing to develop Zotfile - In my view it's the most important addon in the zotero ecosy…
-
Tried installing the signed version and updating it through the addon page, and also on the Zotero addon page but to no avail (Zotfile is not listed there).
-
How do you install Zotfile 5.0.2? It's unsigned so FF blocks it...
-
Any major bugs remaining with Zotfile and Zotero 5.0?
-
In Zotfile preferences > Advanced Settings - make sure epub is added to the list of files that Zotfile is told to work with. Or just untick that option to make it work with all file types. If this option is already set I'm not sure what the pro…

I have a solution for removing orphaned attachments using Zotfile (which I've just successfully used). I'll explain here. First I would suggest correcting metadata that is used in renaming - this is a good opportunity to wipe the slate clean. Assumi…
