If you have Blog listed with several versions of the first name... Bloggs, J. 2015 Bloggs, J, 2018 Bloggs, Joe 2021 Bloggs, Joseph 2022 Zotero may treat these as different authors and use the first name to disambiguate them. So Bloggs 2015, 2022 a…

OK. That is good.

I'll try 7.3.4 and see if it is stable now. The write up should be good for any version where someone needs to install the proper JRE to work with Zotero.
-
I just downloaded and installed the available version from Oracle (17.0.2 build???), and it didn't work. So it may be more reliable to just go with JRE 16. As I said, I normally like the advanced tech versions of LO (currently 7.3) but it has been c…

I went through all the steps and still had the same problems until I downgraded to JDK 16. JDK 17 will work with LO, but not with Zotero and LO. Need to roll back to JDK 16
-
I tried pretty much everything in the installation error page except upgrading the LO installation, which is v. 7.2.7 (most recent stable version). I can upgrade to 7.3, but it has a tendency to crash unexpectedly. LO reports that it is using JDK 1…

I also could not install the Zotero LibreOffice plugin on the Mac today--running Big Sur OS 11.6.6, with Zotero 6.0.8. I tried to install it manually and also got errors. Bug report: 96530395

I would like to download the Safari browser extension to try out the solution to using it in Safari 12. But because I already have Safari 12, it is no longer available for download from Zotero. Can you please restore the possibility of downloading i…

I don't use Firefox

Just now downloaded and tested 5.2.0.4. I have not updated JDK/JRE. But it seems to work fine with Zotero (made a test citation and bibliography). Note that 5.1.5 is the stable version and 5.2.0.4 is the dev version.

This is great news that a very scary situation is actually fixed now.
-
FWIW, I just now talked with a colleague who uses Linux and warned him about this issue. He said he already knew about it. The JDK upgrade messed up a number of other programs on his system and he had to roll back to 1.8_92.
-
I'm not feeling grouchy about this at all. In fact, this was a potential disaster for me too, since I depend on Zotero so much for writing paper, writing grants, doing research. So I fully understand your concern as well. For the record, I am not a …

All programs depend on other programs to run correctly. Every time there is a major upgrade to any OS, there is the possibility of some (sometimes many) programs that do not function correctly because some functionality they depended on is no longer…

Did you install the specific version of JDK that I mentioned? It looks like later versions are the cause of the problem, at least for a couple of us.
-
It's Java JDK (Java Development Kit) I just reinstalled 1.8_91 on the computer where the Zotero plugin did not work with LO. First I tried an older version of LO 5.1.2. Before I downgraded JDK, it did not work with the plugin. After installing …

Thanks for the quick response, even if disheartening. I will follow up in the other thread.
-
I can get this to work on 2 Macs but not the 3rd. The one I'm on now works AFAICT. It is running LO 5.1.2 and Java 1.8_91 rather than 101 or 102. I will try this combination on the other Mac and report back. But it may be a week or so because of an …

I cannot install Libreoffice plugin on the Mac. I'm using the standalone version. I've rebooted. I've upgraded Java. I've installed JDK in addition to JRE. I've upgraded LibreOffice to the most current version (5.1.4). I've checked the Zotero u…

I spent an hour or so and gave up. I could get it narrowed down to a part of the paper but not to a specific reference. I finally was able to cut and paste to a new empty document without it crashing on me when I tried to insert a record. I'm …

I was hoping it would be attached to the reference number. 1. Sync 2. "Conflicts have suspended the automatic syncing. Click the sync icon to resolve them" 3. Click Sync again 4. Go through 14 entries for which it says there are conflicts. Note t…

Good news. Syncing made Zotero recognize the new base directory. Don't know why but I'm happy it worked.
-
Sadly, this does not work. It is fine for the computer where I initially made the switch. But when I change my base directory to the dropbox location for another computer, it loses track of all my PDFs. ... even though all the files are the same and…
-
OK. I've started this process. So far so good. One thing to add. After changing the base directory, you need to quit Zotero and restart it for this to take effect.
-
A hope fulfilled.

Thanks Adam. I was hoping that I would not be faced with reconnecting a few thousand PDFs to my Zotero database. Michael
-
This is all very good news, since I have a closely related question. Up til now, I've stored my PDF's in a folder, called "digital papers" which I've sync'ed across multiple computers using SugarSync. I've linked the PDF's to Zotero using the "Attac…

I just updated to Mt. Lion. Zotero works but adding a link to an existing PDF causes Zotero standalone to hang. Killing it and restarting shows that the link was made. But it is locked up in the meantime. Michael
-
Yes! Thanks very much. When the "experimental features" are turned off, Bibliography insertion works fine in LO 3.5.0. It was never quite clear what new "features" were available with this option anyway. So turning it off is not a problem for m…

Reverting to LibreOffice 3.4.5 works. The LO error you linked to was about RTF pasting--and that makes sense here. But I wonder why this also results in Zotero suddenly using all available memory and then refusing to quit without a force-quit.…
