Does this still happen if you restart your browser and Zotero?
-
It seems that Zotero is trying to highlight a modified citation in your document. It is possible that some citation in your document by accident got modified to contain just a single symbol like a full-stop . or a space . If it did, you will have t…

What citation style are you using? What kind of item are you citing?
-
What version of Word is this? Are you using a custom modified citation style?
-
You will have to describe in more detail, step by step what you're doing, what's happening and what you expect to happen.
-
Restart your Zotero application. If that doesn't help, try disabling all extensions in Zotero and restarting again.
-
Could you provide a Debug ID from Zotero for a failed attempt? Depending on the translator used to save the website either the Zotero Connector or Zotero saves the snapshot, and in the case of the page you submitted the Debug ID for it is Zotero tha…

The freeze in your report occurs in a way that should not depend on the size of the document or the number of citations, which is weird. Still, you'll likely have to run through the Troubleshooting Errors in Word Processor Documents steps.

Ideally we'd want to still figure out what went wrong with your original Google Docs document, since if it isn't a huge document with hundreds of citations it should work fine. How many pages is this document, and how many citations in your estimate…

If you remove the bibliography and all its duplicates from the document do you still see this behavior? If you are, you haven't removed all the duplicate bibliographies from your doc. If you do not, does this start again after reinserting it?
-
This may be a temporary issue with Google servers. If it hasn't resolved itself then restart your browser. When attempting to cite you will be prompted to log in with a Google Account for Zotero. Make sure you select the account which owns the docum…

Sorry, I may have accidentally looked at the wrong Debug ID. It seems like your document contains over 1200 citations. Is that correct? Did you recently merge it from multiple different documents? We do not recommend working with Zotero on documents…

Remove the bibliography from the document completely and reinsert it using the Add/Edit Bibliography option.
-
That is still a Debug ID from the Connector. We need a Debug ID from the Zotero app.
-
Restart Zotero and your browser. Provide a Debug ID from Zotero for an attempt to insert a citation.
-
The bibliography style is set in Word by the "Bibliography" style. Zotero sets it when you choose your citation style. If you modified the style by accident or on purpose, then you can either undo your changes, or change the citation style in Zotero…

Do you run any security software? Can you not reproduce this freeze in an empty Word document, or one of your chapter documents?
-
@Stella_89 also submit a Report ID after the error occurs.

The Zotero in your browser is the Zotero Connector used to save information into your Zotero library while you browse the web. You should not delete it, it is a complementary extension to the main Zotero app.
-
This is controlled by the Bibliography style in Word. You have to modify the style, that way your formatting will persist.
-
Does this happen in a new Zotero Profile?
-
Try running in Troubleshooting Mode (Help -> Restart in Troubleshooting Mode) and see if it still occurs. If it does not, one of your extensions is causing it.
-
Your Debug ID is showing you inserting two citations. It takes about 0.4s for the citation dialog to appear, and 6s to insert citations. For a big document with 200+ citations this is very normal. Some operations, like opening the Document Preferen…

Submit a Report ID. What OS, and what version are you running? Do you use any UI customizations?

Thanks for the report. This will be fixed in the next beta release.

What word processor are you using? Submit a Report ID

You will have to follow the troubleshooting steps above. In the past some users reported issues with Tables of Content and Indexes. It might be worth a try removing it if you have one.

It is possible you have 2 versions of Zotero installed (Beta and Release?). Go into Safari Preferences -> Extensions and make sure you only have one version of Zotero Connector is enabled, from the version of Zotero that you use. Then restart bot…
