Everything fine here in the meantime, no more assistance needed at this point. The problem was possibly resolved by a JavaScript update this morning.

First, the JavaScript solution (shared by @marcelparciak in 2020) does not work anymore, unless you use older version / has not update zotero since 2020. It will throw errors like “ReferenceError: Zot

output to stderr (i.e. `console.error('...')` in JavaScript, `print('...', file=sys.stderr)` in python) and it will appear in this log. { metadata: undefined }

To get an exact number, you could paste this line in Tools > Developer > Run Javascript, and press Run:

Revert any changes you made to the sqlite directly (i.e., restore from a previous backup). That's a recipe for disaster all around and Zotero has various scripting options (API, local JavaScript API),
