I'm having the same issue with the latest version of zotero extension for Google Docs on both Chrome and Edge browsers.

I work in my document in Google docs using the Google Chrome browser with Zotero for Mac open. In my document, I choose the "Add/edit bioliography" option from the drop-down menu, and Google docs only

When having entered the citation in the field it just keeps loading and the document never updates. Only way to get out of loading mode is by closing down zotero and refreshing google docs.

You should try with Zotero Connector 5.0.117 for Firefox, after restarting Zotero and reloading Google Docs.

It will update automatically in Chrome. You'll just need to reload Google Docs.
