I annoted the text and as I am on mac I press cmd+c and copy said annotation in Obsidian/Word wherever (see below).

Note that in Zotero 9 you can also now insert annotations directly into Word with active Zotero citations, not just the plain-text ones you get with copying.

I'm having the same problem. I've updated Zotero, and now it won't upload citations in Word. I've cleared cookies/cache, and I've tried the advice above to use a different doc, and no joy.
