I can confirm that the ZotFile watch folder function has worked consistently on Windows for me to add PDFs and retrieve metadata. It's possible that it works less well on other systems.
  7. Import pdf with Zotfile

    by adamsmith · February 15, 2015
It's not the most reliable function, but if it works, it only works if you _don't_ have an item selected in the middle panel in Zotero. Then you get a ZotFile bubble on the right, click that and the P

    by adamsmith · February 14, 2015
no. ZotFile and symlinks are basically alternative ways of getting files to the dropbox folder safely. If you use ZotFile, you don't need symlinks.
  11. Zotfile and Symbolic Links Question

    by wscleveland · February 14, 2015
Is there a need or safety advantage to using symbolic links in some way to facilitate the use of Dropbox for the storage of .pdf files (but not Zotero data) when using Zotfile to manage pdf storage? <

    by adamsmith · February 13, 2015
ZotFile in theory has a watch folder function to automate 1/2, though I never got that working sufficiently reliably to be worthwhile for me. I know others have, though, I think bwiernik uses it succe

  18. Creating My Own File Structure for Zotero

    by adamsmith · February 4, 2015
you can do all of 1-5 in batch with ZotFile, but note that you can't use linked attachments in groups. Beyond that, this sounds awfully complicated and I can't really help you much.

    by adamsmith · February 4, 2015
