ZotFile isn't compatible with Zotero 6 and 7, you'll likely want to use ZotMoov (https://github.com/wileyyugioh/zotmoov ) instead (and add-ons is now called "plugins")

It's not clear what you mean by "Custom Directory". That's not a Zotero thing. Were you using Zotfile under Zotero v6 (it has a "Custom Location" folder - the location where it saves linked PDF files)
