    by AJB003 · October 19, 2018
I have been tasked with exporting ALL citations for 25 different advanced searches in Proquest. Each of these searches has tens of thousands of results. Thus far, the only method that seems to work

For large imports from Proquest, you should check the items you want in the search results (using the Proquest check boxes, not the Zotero button), then click the Export button (on the Proquest page)

I am attempting to export a large number of citations from Proquest utilizing Zotero. Unfortunately attempts to do so are resulting in the following error message:
  5. Zotero multiple citation downloads not working

    by adamsmith · October 18, 2018
EBSCO and ProQuest both do rate limiting, i.e. they have measures in place to prevent rapid multiple downloads, so this would make sense. They may have gotten more stringent recently, as many publishe

Sometimes it will let me save 3 or 4 articles, but others it won't let me save any. My colleague and I are also experiencing similar problems with ProQuest (https://login.proxy.hil.unb.ca/login?url=h
  7. Workflow re: automatically retrieve pdf metadata

    by bwiernik · October 16, 2018
Generally, the publisher site will have somewhat better metadata than ProQuest in my experience, so I would recommend the first option (Merge, then select the second item in the list as the one to kee

I generally populate Zotero by searching in a ProQuest database, going to the full-record, and clicking the Save to Zotero button.
  9. "An error occurred while trying to export the selected file." Can you QuickCopy a PDF?

    by lisaleine · September 27, 2018
Yep, that is what a sample item imported from ProQuest did.

If you (excuse me if I misunderstood that) mean retrieving metadata from local files - I'm not talking HTML here, but PDF. You can export PQ full texts either in PDF or RTF or TXT - I've tried all opt
  11. Retrieve metadata from ProQuest PDFs

But if Proquest does have an html but not a PDF full text, Zotero should try to get that. Do you have an example?
  12. Retrieve metadata from ProQuest PDFs

Thank you, I've already tried the new functionality and think it is splendid (albeit still quite raw). I'm also aware that ProQuest (like most aggregators) is quite harsh on these things. But the tran
  13. Retrieve metadata from ProQuest PDFs

Oh, that is a different issue entirely. ProQuest has fairly aggressive protection from automated scrapers. If you are trying to import multiple pages of results in rapid succession using the Zotero bu

Zotero has a translator for the ProQuest website, so the Zotero button should generally work. Can you post a specific URL that is not working?
  15. Retrieve metadata from ProQuest PDFs

Many ProQuest databases can export full texts. Either in PDF, TXT or RTF, they have metadata, BUT in the very end of the document. For example, in PDF it looks like this:

Web of Science, PubMed, and ProQuest all have larger export features.

The popup is a progress window. When an item's title appears in the popup, it's saved to Zotero. If you don't see a title, the item wasn't saved. Attachments can show in gray until they're successful…
