this certainly meets any formal and practical accessibility standards (and is significantly more discoverable than a keyboard shortcut).

This would indeed be a great feature. Most PDF readers have some sort of background color setting, usually letting the user enter the value, specifically as an accessibility feature.

Is there a possibility to undo that decision, in order so secure accessibility?
