@adamsmith I agree with some of that (and I anticipated this will come up). Still, there is significant usefulness to having these numbers. Maybe provide a variety of data so interested people can make their own decisions. Also, additional benefit w…

@dstillman could you please respond to this?
-
Have you installed Zotero on your computer and synced it with the online account? The report generation is NOT done in your browser, but rather in the standalone Zotero application installed on your computer.
-
As a quick response, I believe converting your personal library to group library is not possible. You could create a group and move items to it, but that will reset the Date Added. But wait for other expert users to look at this and respond. I hop…

I would vote against using italic text. Separate sections is somewhat better but still not my preference. I agree that the current color scheme is not easy to notice, though I've got used to it. Maybe just try darker shades of the orange and blue?
-
@noksagt So you're saying it works even after that warning regarding Firefox 53?
-
Another feather in the cap. Great work, team Zotero!
-
@j.cossio If you turn off automatic snapshots in Preferences, that should be all. So, if it's still saving webpages, it sounds like an error. I do not have this issue in my Zotero (5.0.48). @dillon You could try creating a saved advanced search wi…

Ok, good to know. I will do a controlled test and report back if the behavior is not as expected.
-
The behavior I described is manifested in other styles. I tested with two other styles, one of which is a numbered style. Thus, the name of the first author in the bibliography follows how I have it setup in Zotero, and is unaffected by what the sty…

Thanks, @bwiernik, I keep forgetting those symlinks. @ckatzenbach, yes, full text search works the same with linked or directly stored attachments.
-
I was able to reproduce some of this in APA 6th: Created a document with four references, one of which has first author "Bayer, Tobias" (Last, First). "Bayer" is the topmost last name of all four references, so as expected, that citation is listed …
-
@ckatzenbach regarding the best practice questions: A.) Those warnings are for a reason. Storing your entire Zotero folder in Dropbox is highly *not* recommended. B.) If the attachments are added to parent items as "links", then it is safe to stor…
-
If you drag-drop PDFs that are journal articles, then Zotero will create a parent item that is a journal article with all the necessary metadata and attach the PDF file to that parent item. On rare occasions or when the PDF is a scanned (non OCR'ed)…

Ability to run Zotero from a local server would be of interest to me, too. While promoting Zotero at my organization I hit the security wall. There were other security concerns that indirectly affect Zotero's functionality - such as disallowing brow…
-
@mu-sick If it is working for most apps except Zotero and maybe a few others that we have not heard of, that is a good beta.
-
Are Mendeley and ResearchGate alerts really useful? Maybe for people who are not investing the time to dive deep in to research databases, and even then, the recommendations probably are not even close to the quality of methodological self-discovery…
-
David, this is good work. I would be interested in more information regarding how this could be useful for a group bibliography to be published so the research community can benefit. Thus, there is no organizational interest or funds. There are oth…

To encourage new users to try it, in already created bibliography page, maybe include a "Make my own bibliography" text at the top with a link to zbib.org? I know the graphic zoterobib at the bottom does this, but for new, hesitant users it can act …
-
A minor thing: The "Read More" hyper link in the banner at the top of a created bibliography isn't doing anything.
-
I can confirm the ScienceDirect one is working. And maybe it worked first time, too, since the article is in my bibliography. Wondering if I reported the wrong failure there (there were certainly two items that failed). And the T&F worked too, …
-
So, in-line citations by Zotero do not hyperlink to the full citation in the bibliography, right? I did not realize this functionality is missing. I've seen PDFs with this feature and it is very useful. Not sure where we are on path to completion bu…

@adamsmith Slack's free plan would suffice as group discussion forum? https://slack.com/pricing/free
-
Yes, 4 sounds right. So these "sent" emails are identical to the messages in my inbox when I login to Zotero, right? I've switched my primary email to see if that solves the issue.
-
Thanks. I should have added that I have that preference checked, but still do not get an email.
-
Is it possible to run a SQL script that pulls the Zotero item URI for items with less than n tags?
-
What kind of reinstallation of Windows 10 did you do? If it's a repair, none of your programs should have been affected. If you did a full reinstall, Windows will ask if you want to backup your data and saves that in a Windows.old folder on C drive.…
-
@compunk Thanks, that's handy to know. Not useful for this case since I know where my files are. All the broken links are because the username part somehow did not update for those attachments (and this affects about 3% of my attachments).
-
Actually, when I think of it again, that's not how base path should have worked. So, this could possibly be a bug in Zotero Firefox days because I have switched between base directory system and absolute path at one point. I say this because my base…
-
Thanks. I turned on Zutilo's "copy attachment path" option and that provided the full path. Shouldn't this be available natively in Zotero? I needed the full path because the existence of broken attachments was mystifying. I knew where the files we…
