@dstillman Coming soon?

@danstillman Any update or future plan to make group URLs more stable (and not be broken completely if the group name is changed)?
-
The delete group feature is online; not your local copy of Zotero. Go to https://www.zotero.org/, login, and then follow the steps mentioned by aurimas: Groups -> Manage Profile (under the group you want to delete) -> Delete Group (right-hand …

Thanks, appreciate the clarification. At work, I still have the ZFF folder inside my Firefox profile. Should I just delete it since I am using ZS 5.0 Beta (which is pointing to C:\Users\username\Zotero)? Or, is there a recommended uninstall process…

@adamsmith The ability to see collections associated with an item is probably among the most asked for feature that already exists. Is that a sign that the feature needs to be implemented differently, so users can find it easily? Maybe selecting an…

Can you check in Word if the plug-in is actually installed? I have the plug-in, it shows in Word 2016, and works as expected. However, in Preferences > Cite > Word Processors it says the Word add-in is not installed and clicking the install bu…

Ah, I did not know removing space around the double dash creates an em dash. Thanks.
-
Hitting -- should give you the en dash, not the em dash. In Microsoft Office, you can use the ALT key and numbers to generate these. It always works when the numbers come from the number pad, but is troublesome when using numbers above the alphabets…

@gagarine "Right now we are in one of the worst positions: multiple packaging, multiple add-on, multiple version" is not entirely correct. The beta is what it is - only for those who want to test/experience what's next, so can't really include that …

Thanks, Dan I purposefully had different directories for ZFF and ZS so I can keep ZFF as my workhorse while I play around with the ZS betas. Are you saying that there is no way to have both ZFF *and* Zotero Connector for Firefox, even when they are…
-
I think I fixed one thing and broke another thing. I installed the "Firefox browser extension" from https://www.zotero.org/download/ and that removed the icon used to open Zotero in Firefox. I then installed the "Zotero connector for Firefox" from …

The first 5.0 beta release anniversary is one month away :) I hope the developers will provide 5.0 full public release by June 10!
-
@dstillman This is still broken in build 193. When I enter April 14, 2017 the entry is correctly recorded as 4/14/2017, but within 10 or so seconds it automatically becomes 4/13/2017, 8:00:00 PM I was able to make it disappear once but not able to …
-
@dstillman The 193 beta looks much faster. The only place where it seemed slow (but still faster than past betas) was "unindexed files". I will continue to test and report back. My settings: Full-text sync is off. Maximum characters and pages to in…

I am sure this was considered, but since the prevent duplicates works so well, would it be easier to integrate that code directly in Zotero 5.0? I understand that might still mean substantial work, but maybe a bit easier than writing something from …
-
When I tested last week, I had the full-text sync turned off and it seemed to have made a difference in speed and crash errors. I'll be back in office next week and will test the latest beta.
-
@LiborA I think you are referring to a different problem, and that is recognizing duplicates. However, yes, if zotero could somehow read the bibliography in a PDF, find the DOIs or ISBNs, and then check if they are in the user's Zotero database, the…
-
You could use the prevent duplicates plug-in. It works fine with Zotero 4.0, but is not compatible with 5.0 standalone. Discussed here: https://forums.zotero.org/discussion/52608/future-direction-of-zotero-firefox-add-on#latest
-
Great. Thanks!

How exactly did you delete the citation? Often, when users delete citations with the backspace or delete key, they leave behind parts of the field for that citation by (for example) not deleting a remaining space. You may think you have deleted it, …

+1 to sorting by date of publication with latest on top. Also briefly mentioned here: https://forums.zotero.org/discussion/65299/5-0-beta-my-publications-probably-not-syncing-perfectly

Tagging the developer just in case, @beloglazov
-
@adamsmith Has anything changed regarding the use/compatibility of the prevent duplicates plug-in with 5.0?
-
As an active user of the software and a frequent visitor to these forums, I can attest that technical support with Zotero is second to none. On rare occasions, there is no good/easy solution to a tricky technical problem, but what I appreciate most …

@bwiernik third time's a charm .. :)

(@adamsmith If OP starts with Zotero, and later decided to switch to Mendeley, will Mendeley pull the Zotero references and maintain the connections in the Word file?) If yes, then starting with Zotero is your safest bet. You will probably like Zo…
-
Oops, yes, I forgot about that completely since the prevent duplicates plug-in has spoilt me. Tested and working as expected. Thanks for the reminder.
-
@LiborA I could not fully follow what you meant. Are you askng if I can drag-drop them to a collection in My Library? Yes, I can do that and it is a workaround, but not very elegant. Also, when I do that, any item is added as a journal article, whic…

Because in the past I noticed Zotero would slow down when I attach or import a PDF. And I tend to bulk attach, so I want to just complete my operations quickly and let the indexing happen when I am away from my desk. I am surprised the 5.0 Beta is …

@treglin I was wondering how things are working out - Zotero vs Mendeley - after a few months?
