@adomasven and @dstillman I thought I had auto-indexing disabled by setting my pages to index to zero. Is that not the case? Screenshot of my indexing settings: https://1drv.ms/i/s!Atcr8aCyjBrulLQ6Xlu7ObxxIqdlEQ Note that my indexing stats have be…

@dstillman Much thanks!

@dstillman Just FYI, I am still seeing a large variability in speed and at some point Zotero will crash requiring the program be closed and restarted . For example, when I clicked on "Unindexed Files" it took about 140 seconds for the items to be di…

I second that starting My Publications (or anything) fully expanded is jarring. I always have to first minimize all items before doing anything further.

I have used Syncback for over 15 years now. It has free and paid versions; I have only used the free version and am very satisfied with it. Even the free version has deep controls regarding what to backup and how to backup. https://www.2brightsparks…

Updating the URL field in my home Zotero 4.0.x copy updated the work 5.0 beta, which in turn updated the entry in My Publications (local and online).

Thanks, Dan. Yes, now I am seeing the correct numbers in the online version. Other observations: 1. (somewhat major) Is there a way to pick the sort order for the online list? For example, I would like the items (within their respective item type) …

@dstillman Done. https://forums.zotero.org/discussion/65299/

@dstillman Thanks, this is much better. I deleted everything in "My Publications" and then installed the latest Beta and re-added to "My Publications". I noticed an issue: I have 7 journal articles in my local "My Publications" but the online versio…

@dstillman could you please elaborate how this will work when Zotero has moved completely to only Standalone. Will there be a export settings and addins button? You may have answered this in your comment but I could not figure out the procedure in a…

I second the method used by @fbennett with minor modifications to make it more real-time. Say your main library is called MAIN and only you and selected people have read-write access to it, and everyone else has only read access to it. Create a seco…

Thanks, good to know that Mendeley can do one time import or continuously sync with Zotero sqlite file.
-
Just curious, why would you need to query the database directly, or use qnotero, when the same search can be done in Zotero using the advanced search feature? Are direct searches faster?
-
Thanks. I activated that option and tried changing the path on a test item, but not seeing any difference. Here's what I have: Let's say most of my attachments are at: C:\Path-1\Folder-A\IndividualFiles But a few attachments are at: C:\Path-1\Fold…

That has to be a bug, right? Tag selections are still working in AND mode, so the display must too, else there is a mismatch in what is shown in the middle pane versus what is shown in the Tag selector.

+1 for this feature

Following on from here: https://forums.zotero.org/discussion/64930/file-link-attachments My attachments are using "link to file" method. I have base folder setup. I want to reorganize sub-folders inside this base folder. So, I move some of my atta…

I have Zutilo and have used it manage tags, relate items, and grab attachment paths. I've never used it for batch editing. Looking now, I can't find the batch editing menu. Kind of makes me feel stupid, but where is the batch editing feature in Zuti…

Sorry about the thread-jacking. I'll start a new thread. [Split and merged — D.S.]

So, if I move files using Zutilo, all the links to the moved files are broken in Zotero? I can still see the benefit of having Zutilo do the move, but for my use case the benefit is really small since I am trying to avoid the effort of re-linking. I…

I was (probably) confusing Zotfile with Zutilo. Would this work in Zutilo? I copy-paste (or cut-paste) all the attachment files in folder 'B' to folder 'A'. And then use Zutilo to batch edit the file paths from 'B' to 'A'. What I want to avoid is h…

@adamsmith would you know if Zutilo can batch edit select (but not all) links? Also, can it batch edit without forcing file renaming? My attachments are mostly in one folder, but there are a few spread across other folders. I would like these "sprea…

I haven't checked the latest beta release, but the 5.0-beta.156+a35d903 was causing delays at my end. See these posts for behavior with my library: https://forums.zotero.org/discussion/64653/5-0-beta-slow-performance https://forums.zotero.org/discus…

Thanks, that helps. I used OpenOffice extensively 10 years ago, but haven't used LibreOffice (LO). I know LO is the true child of OpenOffice :) The fact that they do not cross-recognize fields (obviously, nothing to do with Zotero) is rather unfortu…
-
Just for my clarity: Why would going from Word to LibreOffice break things when LO has a processor plug-in? Further, if everyone editing a document is using LO, then that's not a problem, right?

Or, for future needs, mark every new item with a tag (e.g. "pending") and then delete that tag when you have read the article. At any point, items with "pending" will be your not read list.
-
The way I keep track of "to be cited" and "cited" references is via colored tags. It is not automatic, but the fastest manual way I know of. My "to be cited" is the first colored tag and "cited" is the second colored tag. You can assign these tags t…

I second that thread was much fun. I wonder if it demands a Turing test... could be a top notch AI bot from Area 51.

@dstillman Overall, large variability in speed. Operations are not consistently fast or slow. For example, time to update the middle pane with contents of a RSS feed could vary from 2 seconds to 10 seconds. I get a feeling that the speed is either…
