(Please start new threads for new issues — the thread you posted to isn't related. I've moved this to a new thread.) That message means what it says. You seem to somehow have your data directory set to /opt, which is totally wrong (and I'm not sure…

What page won't load? A PDF not loading in a reader tab shouldn't prevent you from restarting in Troubleshooting Mode. But you can also start in Troubleshooting Mode by holding down Shift (Windows) or Option (Mac) at startup.

Are you under the impression that people who use Zotero the way it's designed to be used don't read PDFs? You know that's one of the main points of Zotero, right? You open PDFs by double-clicking on the parent item. I've explained multiple times ho…

editor.* settings are from Mozilla (e.g., for Thunderbird) and aren't relevant for Zotero. All Zotero settings are prefixed by extensions.zotero, and plugins should generally be using extensions.[something else]. You can change the background colo…

That's the loading page for a specific PDF. Do other PDFs load? Does the library tab load? If not, restart in Troubleshooting Mode (Help → "Restart in Troubleshooting Mode…”), which temporarily disables all plugins. If that fixes it, you'll need to…

There's nothing to be "fixed". Read the linked page.

What? You're wildly misinterpreting me here. Obviously Zotero is a program designed to help you digitally retain and sift through thousands of sources — that's what it does. I'm just explaining the reason we're no longer supporting these attachment …
-
Well, I'm explaining that the way to use Zotero is to create parent items (or, in most cases, let it create parent items automatically), not to just keep a library full of PDFs with no metadata. Then you would just convert these to regular child not…

The URL in Unpaywall is a 404: https://www.escienceediting.org/upload/se-1-1-19-6.pdf The actual URL is https://www.escienceediting.org/upload/pdf/kcse-2014-1-99.pdf Zotero doesn't have a dedicated translator for this site and only uses Embedded M…

Follow-up question just to entertain my curiosity: do you have any idea why the network drive got selected as the location for the directory? @bartlas: Assuming you installed Zotero yourself, you would've had to have set it there.

Yes, you can add text/html to the end of the hidden pref, after a comma. That's a comma-separated list of content types (or content-type prefixes) to be renamed, and text/html is the one for snapshots. (I haven't tested this, but it should work.)
-
text/html should work, but we'll add "HTML" as an option in the settings. Now that Zotero 7 supports webpage annotation, we're working on some changes to help make it possible to treat snapshots as first-class attachments like PDFs.

You don't need to edit the shortcut either. You just need to start it once with -P (e.g., via the Run dialog) and make sure "Use the selected profile without asking at startup" is unchecked. But I would just reiterate that this is, indeed, an advan…

@louarnold: It's a trivial process. It's an advanced configuration. If you don't have a solid understanding of command-line flags, the Firefox profile system, custom data directory locations, how Zotero syncing relates to specific libraries, etc., t…

I don't know what you mean by that. You'll need to say more and/or provide a screenshot.

You'll need to say what the actual problem is that you're experiencing. Are you referring to an error while trying to set up syncing?
-
Yes, because WebDAV files are stored on your server, not ours. The web library can't access them.
-
Yes, that's what I'm referring to. Embedded attachment notes are no longer supported as editable notes. The toolbar probably shouldn't be there, but that's just the note editor's read-only mode. As I say, you have to migrate the notes if you want to…

It's great to hear that Zotero 7 now manages this automatically. This isn't new in Zotero 7. Zotero has always removed colons and everything else listed as reserved on Wikipedia. (Here's a line from 2008 doing so.) If you were using ZotFile for rena…

You're at your storage quota, so additional files, including images in notes, aren't being uploaded. There'd be a warning icon about this in the toolbar on every sync that you can click on for more info.
-
Yes, annotations will be shown in the items list in a future version, so it will be possible to match against them directly, create a note from just those annotations, etc.
-
Not much relevant to this has changed in recent betas. Does it happen if you update from this beta (from July 3) to the current beta? Are you running any plugins? If so, you should confirm that it happens with all plugins disabled.
-
What's the actual problem that you're experiencing?
-
Toggle Word field codes and look for ZOTERO_BIBL. Do you see it?
-
Are you using any sort of unusual system setup? External monitors, appearance settings, system utilities, etc.? We haven't received any other reports of this.
-
Replace Windows/Linux forbidden characters in the filename Just on this, note that this shouldn't be necessary. Zotero already makes sure that filenames are valid across platforms.

You can't edit embedded attachment notes (the notes that appeared in the right-hand pane after clicking on an attachment) in Zotero 7 — you have to convert them to sibling child notes (for child attachments) or standalone notes (for standalone attac…

There wasn't an assumption that things were broken "not working" "Up until now, Zotero has been relatively problem free" "paying for an option/ that is currently not functioning should move beyond your statement, "we do not provide technical support…
