Why do you think it’s from the Zotero Connector? Does it stop happening If you disable the Zotero Connector? Can you provide a Debug ID from the Zotero Connector for reproducing it?

This seems to be a misunderstanding. Zotero didn't even have a Citation Key field until recently. I'd guess that you've been using the Better BibTeX plugin, which I think added citation key searching to the citation dialog. We can't help with that. …

What do you mean by "exported"? Are you using the word processor plugins, copying a bibliography to the clipboard, or exporting to a file? You'll want to use the plugin for proper formatting.
