Thanks Dan. That explains my confusion... ;-) Could perhaps Zotero tell me this...? Until it is fixed.
-
That sounds promising! :-)
-
I see. Is the challenge in the framework or the Zotero code?
-
Thanks Dan, I will try the double quote thing. But should not Zotero stop searching as soon as I type a new character?
-
Thanks Simon! I had to go through it all - uninstall Java, reinstall - but now it works. ;-)
-
Yepp. That was it. Many thanks and sorry for disturbing.
-
Yes, sorry. I used the same article as you above, saved it to Zotero and dragged the item from Zotero a Wikipedia article I edited. It ended up like this: Zhang, L., Vogel, W. K., Liu, X., Topark-Ngarm, A., Arbogast, B. L., Maier, C. S., … Leid, M…

Found this on Wikipedia: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Citing_sources_with_Zotero#Adding_references_into_Wikipedia_articles I have tested with standalone and with Firefox. It does not work here.
-
Found it in Firefox. Installed UK English dictionary and language pack. Zotero standalone however think I still need no green card. I am treated as US. ;-) Anyway, thanks for your time and effort, adamsmith.

Hm, more complicated than I thought: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Date_format_by_country Good thing is that I now have learned that US uses MDY and most other non-ISO countries (i.e. the vast majority, including Germany) uses DMY. But my s…

Hm, for the rest of the world the current time format is incredibly uncomfortable to read. I strongly suggest changing to the international format: 2013-09-08 19:40 :-)
-
Thanks adamsmith. Too bad they made this complicated (I guess it is in XUL-runner.) Yes, I realize it does not affect citation styles and that I still can sort. The problem I see is that the choosen date/time style in Zotero is very hard t…

Ok, thanks.
-
Yes, it does, thanks. Btw, what is the reason this message from the API request is not shown in Zotero? At least I for one should find it very helpful.
-
I tested again. It still does not work and I cannot see that message.
-
Thanks adamsmith. Where did I miss this message?
-
I was thinking of the web page then, yes. And placing it in the description does not help since it will not be available when you need it... ;-)
-
Yes, it is the matches in the middle of words that is problematic here. (Sometimes it is good, but definitively not in this case.)
-
Ah, sorry for seeing your question late, @aurimas. Letting any one add their own search engine without being to much of an expert on that would be good, of course. However I was more thinking of setting this up for a group in a way that le…
-
Thanks aurimas. I save a lot of references to Zotero from discussions we have. I think the saved references are much more valuable if readers can find the discussions. As it is now I have tried adding some links links by hand to the discussion thr…

I am trying to test the functionality to add search engines, but there is no "Add" in the "Locate menu" (in Firefox). Is there something I am missing? (I am testing with http://yahoo.com/ and http://pubget.com/.)
-
I see. It is a bit of work and will not work for a group library. Maybe I should stay with the way I have to do this and try to promote this some way? I have a bookmarklet here (called "W?") that can do the job - if it is customized: Bookmarklets …
-
Thanks adamssmith and aurimas. I will have a look at the possibilities. The Lookup Engines have a bit surprising place in the menus. I would have expected it to be in the context menu for an item. And now I am trying to find out what this …
-
Thanks. I see now they forgot to put the abstract in the metadata, but there is an there.
-
Ah, so you mean you fall back to DOI (CrossRef) when no one has had time to write a translator? In this case I guess the metadata can be used (as you suggested ;-) ).
-
@adamsmith: You mean that Zotero fails because CrossRef does not return the correct info, or? Thanks, I have forgotten about the feature to choose translator since I mostly use Chrome at the moment.
-
OK, thanks.
-
Eh, my bad. There is just the popup window visible, but if I follow the instructions and click on the options for the Zotero connector then I see the errors. I clicked on the "Reprt Errors" button there now. Is that all I normally should do to …
-
I see, thanks Dan. Could perhaps the translator detect this and report it? I guess it is a timeout.
-
Thanks adamsmith. It is a major problem that prevents searching. So it would be nice to hear that a solution gets nearer the horizon. ;-)
