Thanks Dan, sorry. I thought there was an issue with the translator. I was confused that detectWeb did return nothing. The problem was indeed in my custom version of the bookmarklet. (I removed the link-tags, because I thought they were not nee…

All attachments are not files. An attachment can be a link, for example. (And this attachment can have both a note and a title.)

This is a real problem for me. I have therefore decided to go for my plan B: I will give Google content it can index the way I want it. I use two php scripts for this. One presents the items like this: http://ourcomments.org/zformat/g/56…

Took a quick look to see if Google indexes javascript generated content now. They do not say they do it here, but they do not deny it either. Still they recommend static html for indexing, using what Google call "pretty URLs" (for javascript generat…

Thanks aurimas, it works now! And thanks adamsmith for the guiding, of course. ;-)

It says "Saving to [figure] LIB NAME". (With the correct library name. I save it to the top of the library.)
-
I just clicked on the connector icon in the Chrome toolbar. This works for PubMed entries, but for the above YouTube entry it did not work. I get the "Saving to __" box in the lower right corner. It stays there.

Ehum, sorry. Report ID: 815161943

A snapshot takes the whole page with images. Using Readability you just get the main text. Hm, maybe it is my version of the translator, yes. (What is the easiest way to see if I have changed a translator?)
-
Another option: Use the Readability add-on in your browser. Choose "Read Now" and then save the page to Zotero. This will save the page in the "abstract" field. So you have to edit that field as required to avoid copyright issues. (If it is a p…

Thanks dunning, that is important information, but is it really TSPACE? The sources from the page says DSpace seems to be a free software project (http://www.dspace.org/license/): DSpace | DSpace is a turnkey institutional repository application…

Ok, thanks.

Thanks aurimas, very good. Is there perhaps any official list like the one above I could point those responsible for the web page to? Or should I try to direct them to this discussion?
-
What would be the preferred way to tell the persistent URI on the web page?
-
Ah, I wondered why the html of the description was displayed. I simply missed the reason because: 1) All the text is red and rather long. The reason for displaying it does not stand out. 2) The reason for displaying the text ("is more…

No, I have no user styles or anything I think could make an influence on this. Do you perhaps have a picture of how it looks when you try to save something that is over the limit size?
-
Ah, forgot about that limit. That seems to be the problem, yes, but I do not get any information about that when it fails.
-
I tested again. Test 1: Added a just text to the description. This was saved. Test 2: Added a link in the description. This was NOT saved.
-
I just tried and the edit was not saved this time either. I saw no "Group Settings Saved". (But I do not know if I have ever got it. I have not noticed it.) Yes, it works different for the same group. Sometimes the edits are saved, some times n…

Many thanks, aurimas! :-)

Isn't there enough information for Zotero on the page I linked too? There is for example an "itemscope" with information.
-
The normal way to handle that in IT is to divide the information into basic and advanced. I think that could be used here too.
-
Ah, yes, that is nearly the same idea. But I do not understand what issues you are thinking of here.
-
But could not the DOI translator also pick up those general markups and put the page itself in the list of alternatives to save?
-
But there are some marking on the page too, like "og:description", etc.
-
Checked out the source but could not find the function doing sentence case and taking care of the colon too. I think this fiddle here does the right thing: http://jsfiddle.net/lborgman/EppPj/1/

Thanks, I never noticed the possibility before. I saw it some days ago in your post on The Zoteroist. A common list + a user list is what is needed I guess. Does it have to be very tricky? It could also be very useful to preserve upper cas…

BTW updated the gist to the one I am using now. I have good hope this one will work and will use it for a while to see.

Looks indeed like a caching problem, but in Chrome. I switched to another page, clicked the Readability button. My new translator was selected. Switched back to the first page where old translator was selected (after restarting, see above). Rel…

Hm, now it happened again. It selects the old translator. All I did was closing Zotero Standalone and opened Firefox+Scaffold. Opened my new version of the translator there. Run a test on a new site where it did not work. Closed Firefox+Sc…
